Overview
Manufacturer Provided Description
The Cape Fear 38 has a pedigree that few boats can match. Well known designer, Bruce Marek, has been designing sailboats for more than twenty years, so speed is a given. The owner of Cape Fear Yacht Works, Kent Mitchell is a longtime sailor who was educated in architecture, and is now the CEO of the company that is developing Bald Head Island, the southernmost of North Carolina's cape islands. (In fact, the boat company is named for the famous point of Cape Fear, the prominent geographic feature of Bald Head Island.) A family man with three energetic sons, Kent has raced and cruised any number of production boats, but found each to be an unsatisfactory compromise. In the Cape Fear 38, he set out to build his version of the perfect racer/cruiser.
