INTERIOR WALKTHROUGH:

ZEXPLORER is a high volume 133’/40.5m vessel that has had a complete interior refit in 2022. Boarding on the starboard side, the initial impression is that of pedigree and impeccable maintenance. All deck areas are covered in 15mm Bolidt composite decking with teak coloured substrate and white caulking that was installed in 2022 and looks and feels like teak while being much easier to maintain. The Awlgrip “Donegal Green” topsides and “Signal White” superstructure are striking and refined as well being in superb condition with repeated annual ceramic coatings.

The interior décor was completely redesigned in 2020-2022 by Christina Norris and the result is an invitingly comfortable quality interior ambiance. On the main and lower decks, the décor employs rich mahogany wood panels and furniture with white headliners and light coloured rich wool carpeting over black oak floors. The large tempered storm proof windows flood light into the saloon, dining area and lower accommodations. All overhead lighting is LED. All electronics and AV controlled by a central Crestron system. Noise levels throughout the yacht under way are extremely quiet resulting for vibration and sound dampening efforts by Soundown.

On the lower deck accommodations, the wall treatments are light grey silk fabric and mahogany cabinetry with beautiful custom marble heads individually unique to each stateroom. Each stateroom has large portlights allowing plenty of light in and views out. The interior has at least 7 foot / 2.1m headroom throughout the yacht. All stairs are wide and designed with an easy rise and run ratio for easy access throughout the yacht.

AFT DECK:

The aft deck area was redesigned in 2022 to include a large teak dining table and “U” shaped seating area for 12 guests. There are built in floating, teak topped, cupboards to either side of the main saloon doors for dinner service forward. Glass wing doors on either side for weather protection. On port side there are wide steps down to the expansive swim/ stern platform. This area is 25 x 11 feet overall and an excellent launching area for dive expeditions and /or toy deployment. A central hydraulic deployable swim step allows easy access into and out of the water. A watertight door accesses the large stern garage/ lazarette area which was extended during the refit and contains the sea bobs, bicycles, SCUBA bottle and dive gear. 1 of 2 engine room access points is through the lazarette.

MAIN SALOON:

Large outward opening saloon doors latch open creating a 57” opening into the bright and comfortable main saloon. An inviting ambiance created by twin large fabric white “L” shaped couches on either side with maple/oak coffee tables and mahogany side furnishings. Large Samsung TV mounted aft swivels out for viewing. Superb views out through large side and aft windows.

DINING AREA:

Forward of the dining area separated by wait high mahogany credenzas is a large marble dining table with 12 leather chairs. Mahogany serving credenzas on either side store all service items or allow countertop buffet service. Service access to the Galley area on port side and guest access through large mahogany panel door on starboard.

GALLEY:

A large commercial quality galley is divided into the chef’s area amidships and service area separated by an island countertop. A Subzero refrigerator and Freezer with 2 additional drawers each. Additional Fridge/Freezer capacity on the lower deck. Ideal design layout for crew access to side deck door through to crew mess and crew accommodations.

MAIN DECK LOBBY:

Formal entry to the yacht from the side deck into a sumptuously finished rich mahogany panelled lobby with a day head and stairs down to lower deck guest staterooms as well as wide floating stairs up to the bridge deck finished in superb glass and mahogany.

LOWER ACCOMODATION:

Downstairs from main deck lobby accesses a central passageway connecting the 5 lower Staterooms. 2 Subzero fridge drink drawers plus stewardess cupboard storage service the accommodations.

The Owner’s Stateroom:

Is the furthest aft of the Guest staterooms positioned low and central for enhanced motion at sea and isolated forward of the engine room by a full beam fuel tank and the owner’s bathroom. Taking advantage of the yacht’s full beam, this stateroom has 3 large tempered fixed glass and stainless framed windows on each side flooding the room with light and impressive views out to the sea. A Central king size bed with mahogany wood base with drawers, Leather headrest, 2 mahogany bedside tables. Large desk with ample drawers to starboard and 2-person fabric couch on port side facing large format Samsung TV. Aft of the Owner’s stateroom and accessed from either side of the bed is a marble adorned bathroom with enclosed Tecma head, Kohler jacuzzi tub, dual sinks and a large steam glass encased shower. Outboard of the bathroom are 2 cedars lined walkin wardrobes on either side with ample hanging and drawer space.

The four (4) guest staterooms:

Two (2) queen staterooms and two (2) double staterooms with single berths. The port side forward stateroom can be converted to a queen berth while the starboard forward stateroom has a third pullman type additional berth. Each stateroom has a large closet and ample drawers all finished in rich mahogany as well as individually designed marble heads with large showers. The central guest stateroom lobby door forward allows crew service access to the guest staterooms.

CREW ACCOMODATIONS:

From the lower accommodation deck forward, a central passageway accesses a large “pantry” storage room through a watertight door. Built-in stainless cold storage fridge and freeze boxes, 3 compressor units, 1 Glass hopper bottle crusher and 4 large pantry storage lockers. Kaleidoscope AV servers and Crestron system is stored with Cisco connections. There is access here to the yacht’s lower bilge and tank deck through opening hatches and stairs down to a roller tray allowing passage through the entire bilge system.

Stairs up on starboard to the laundry room with 2 Miele washing machines and 2 Miele dryers plus room for ironing a storage. There are three (3) double crew cabins each with ensuite head/showers. Up 5 steps from the crew accommodations to the main deck level is the ensuite double berth Captain’s cabin on starboard and a large crew mess with table seating for 6-8 to port with direct access aft to the Galley.

BRIDGEDECK SKYLOUNGE and VIP STATEROOM:

Access up to the bridge level is via the dining area stairs or aft deck stairs. The bridge deck has an open aft deck with exercise equipment in airconditioned isinglass dropdown curtains and corner seating offering exceptional views aft and access up to the sundeck above via easy sloping stairs on starboard side. Passages forward on either side to wheelhouse and foredeck.

The Sky lounge is bright and decorated in relaxing white satin finish with raised panels and superb visibility out on all sides through large, tempered glass windows with light grey drop down curtains mounted behind detailed window framing. A large, plush grey “L” shaped couch allows seating for 6-8 plus a card table and ottoman facing a large format 65’ Samsung flat screen TV. The floors are black polished oak covered in a plush beige wool carpet.

Forward of the sky lounge is a large day head that also in the VIP bathroom with shower, sink and private access to the bridge deck lobby or VIP Stateroom. The VIP Stateroom has a king bed and views out 2 large windows, a bureau and ample storage with hanging space and drawers all finished in satin mahogany.

SUNDECK:

The top deck has a large, optimized sundeck accessed aft. There is significant shading under the large arch with seated dining for 12, a large, teak countered, fully equipped bar with a custom BBQ, Subzero fridge drawers (2), 3 mounted barstools, sun lounging areas aft, and a custom 8-person hot tub forward surrounded by raised sun pads. The entire sundeck is wind protected with bulwarks and glass and stainless railing as well as being very secure for guests.

WHEELHOUSE:

The professionally equipped and completely updated wheelhouse has 3 Stidd command chairs and guest seating aft. A new Boning system to monitor all ships functions has been installed here with monitors in various essential positions through the yacht. All systems, monitors and controls are new from the 2022 refit. The visibility from the wheelhouse is exceptional through reverse countered pilothouse windows. Wing stations controls either side are new from 2022 and offer exceptional visibility.

FOREDECK:

One of the most distinguishing features of the yacht is the massive tender deck capable of carrying 2 x 26’ recent tenders supported by a 12,000 LB central hydraulic Knuckle crane cable of launching tenders on either side. High bulwarks and secure tiedowns for the tenders. There is additional space for Personal watercraft etc. A forward bosun’s locker door accesses a very deep foredeck storage area. The yacht is equipped with properly sized and maintained anchoring gear and the entire forward area of the yacht is freshly painted and in superb condition. There is a full canvas tent that covers the entire foredeck from the pilothouse to the forward master making the foredeck a vast entertainment area, with tenders removed.

BROKER’S Comments:

ZeXPLORER is a uniquely US designed and built explorer yacht that is very well maintained and updated. During recent inspection after arrival on delivery into Ft. Lauderdale from Tahiti (7500 NM), we found the yacht to be in very good order in all areas interior and exterior, and in all bilge and machinery/systems areas of the yacht. She has successfully completed 28,000 NM since the completion of the mechanical refit to her drive systems completed in 2022. During a brief sea trial experience offshore Ft. Lauderdale inlet on September 8th, we measured the following Decibel levels running in a seaway at 1250 RPM doing roughly 10 knots:

Captains 2020-2022 Refit Discussion & Description

Boksa Marine Design was engaged to design all the changes required to the hull, drive line and machinery foundations, as well as conducting the stability work with ABS. Derecktor Shipyard was chosen as the primary yard and all work was performed under their supervision. Extensive electrical modifications were handled by Firefly Engineering. All metal modifications were done by American Marine Repair.

The crew were present for the entire refit. The captain monitored all work and compliance, the Chief Engineer monitored and tested all works and systems alongside the contractors and ABS surveyors while the Chief Mate maintained the day-to-day improvements with the rest of the crew. Boksa Marine visited weekly to monitor and survey all works and would provide us with written updates and make hands on changes as required.

As with all refits many items were suggested for improvements, these were brought to the attention of the owner who went above and beyond all expectations and approved most items to make the boat correct and ready for the planned round world expiation. Now after 28,000 trouble free miles at Sea, ZeXplorer and its refit can be declared a success in all aspects.
