Description
URSA Major is unquestionably the finest Krogen 54' on the water. Her knowledgeable owners have inspected every component, every nook and cranny, and touched every item on board. Their attention to detail and proper boat maintenance is obvious under the closest of inspections. URSA Major is the epitome of a world-class go anywhere trawler. She represents that rare opportunity to begin cruising immediately, all the heavy lifting has already been done for you. URSA Major's hull was Awlgripped in 2017, and the rest of the exterior was painted in 2018 (all fittings and hardware were removed prior to painting), and new Diamond Sea Glaze windows and pilothouse doors installed.
James Krogen's inspiration for the Krogen 54' came from the Romsdal trawlers, designed and built for operation in the high latitudes. Over-built and equipped for extended periods away from the dock, the Krogen 54' is truly "At Home On Any Sea".
"No port too far. No sea too surly". If this describes you cruising aspirations you owe it to yourself to put URSA Major on your short list. You will not be disappointed.
Inspections are by appointment only. The Kadey-Krogen Group.

OTHER DETAILS
Construction
The hull and topsides of the Krogen 54' are of AIREX sandwich construction with deep layers of mat and glass roving. The composite structure serves both as a buoyancy material and shock, sound and temperature insulator. The ride is extremely quiet, significantly increases impact strength and eliminates condensation build-up inside the hull. The decks and superstructure use Divinycell sandwich construction. Foredeck and boat deck are molded with a non-skid surface. Aft deck and starboard sidedeck have teak overlay.
Saloon and Aft Deck
The saloon features an open living area with 2 swivel recliner chairs, aft facing built-in settee and adjustable table. Five windows provide abundant natural light for relaxing in the saloon. Overhead teak stripped ceilings complete the traditional feel while the twin overhead handrails provide security at sea. The aft deck of the 54' Krogen is unique because of the classic and distinctive canoe stern. There is a fixed settee that wraps around the canoe stern and a half moon teak table making it an ideal place to entertain. Double teak doors with screens open the saloon to the "back porch" cockpit. A teak wing door leads to a covered walkway up the starboard side of the boat providing access to the bow. For convenience there is a hot and cold fresh water shower next to the boarding gangway. The entire cockpit is enclosed with isinglass and screens.
Galley
The open-faced alley is forward and to starboard from the saloon and is separated by the raised counter. This arrangement allows the chef to be included in social activity in the saloon. Major galley components include: 2- Nova Kool refrigerators 1- Nova Kool freezer Force10 4-burner propane stove/oven Microwave oven Loads of drawer and cabinet storage Custom Corian countertops Tiled backsplash Filtered water spigot
Master Stateroom
The master stateroom is mid-ship for less motion while voyaging, 3-steps down from the galley with a queen walk-around bed situated fore and aft. There is abundant storage in multiple drawers under the bed, a dresser, nightstands, bookshelves and over 6' of hanging locker space. With two opening ports and deck prisms as well as three opening portholes in the companionway, there is abundant light and ventilation providing an open and airy feel to the stateroom.
Ensuite Head
The ensuite head is forward of the stateroom, featuring a 30"x60" tiled shower as well as abundant counter and locker space. There is also an electric toilet, Corian counters and ceramic tile floor. For light and ventilation there is an opening port and deck prism.
Guest Stateroom
The forward guest stateroom features a double bed with a seat and an abundant amount of storage. Being in the bow, this stateroom has four portholes and a hatch for wonderful light and ventilation especially at anchor as the ports funnel the breeze right into the cabin. The forward location provides privacy to all when guest are aboard.
Office / 2nd Guest Stateroom
The Office/ 2nd stateroom is midship on the port side of the boat forward of the master stateroom. It features a full sized settee with the back that hinges up to form a second berth in a tradition over under bunk design. This space makes a great office, storage room or work space when additional guest are not aboard.
Guest Head
The guest head is to starboard, across the companionway from both guest cabins and features a large stall shower with seat, electric head, Corian counter and ceramic tile floor. It is quite bright and airy with two opening portholes, one of which faces forward for great ventilation while at anchor.
Pilothouse
The pilothouse is up three steps from the galley and offers wonderful views in all directions. There are aluminum sliding side doors port and starboard, along with two rear opening windows and the center forward windshield opens for ventilation while underway or at anchor. The pilothouse also has a convertible settee, and there is also an abundance of storage and charting space throughout the pilothouse.
