Description

The Valiant 47 is an exceptional long-range offshore performance cruising boat, designed for blue water sailing and comfortable living aboard. Created by Bob Perry, it later evolved into the Valiant 50 with the addition of a bowsprit and redesigned deck. This vessel became famous when William Pinkney sailed solo around the world in 1990 aboard his Valiant 47 "Commitment." Many Valiant 47s have circumnavigated the globe, including one that completed two solo circumnavigations, one of them non-stop. The Valiant 47 is easy to single-hand, making it ideal for couples. Its fin keel and long forefoot provide straight tracking and smooth tacking, with autopilot or wind vane steering. Designer Robert Perry preferred the Valiant 47's sharp entry over the 42. Below deck, it comfortably sleeps up to seven, though it's perfectly suited for a couple living aboard.
