Wellington Walkthrough
The Wellington 44 is a sturdy, center-cockpit, blue-water cruiser known for its robust construction, excellent stability, and spacious interior. It was designed by Bill Wellington and built by Wellington Boats Inc. in Jacksonville, Florida. A walkthrough reveals an open layout with distinct living spaces that are comfortable at anchor and functional while underway.
Exterior and cockpit
- Deck and hull: The decks are wide and clear, providing safe passage to the bow. A fiberglass foam lined hull gives the boat good insulation, buoyancy, and a quiet, dry ride.
- Aft deck: The aft deck offers a large, open area for lounging and includes a custom storage box, lights, and s/s Stern pulpit and solid rails for safety and security.
- Cockpit: The center cockpit configuration allows for a large aft master cabin below. A new custom bimini and dodger covers the entire cockpit area with windows or screens and also has covers.
- Sailing hardware: Cutter rigged with a Pro Furl roller furling mainsail and two Pro Furl roller furling headsails (jib and staysail). The rigging is managed by new multiple winches and all lines being lead aft to the cockpit.
Interior layout
- Main salon: Entering the salon from the cockpit, the area is bright and airy, thanks to large fixed windows. It features a large U-shaped dinette to port and a navigation station to starboard. The interior woodwork mahogany, and the sole is often teak and holly.
- Galley: The U-shaped galley is located forward of the dinette and is designed for safe and comfortable cooking while cruising. It includes a new Force 10 propane stove and oven, Engel top-loading refrigerator/freezer (2) third Norcold refrigerator across from galley, and a double stainless steel sink with R/O, tank, and saltwater faucets.
- Forward companionway: Moving forward from the galley, a short companionway leads to the guest head and forward cabin.
- Forward cabin: This cabin has a V-berth with storage underneath and a hanging locker. It provides a private space for guests.
- Forward head: A head with a shower is located just outside the forward cabin and also serves as the day head.
- Aft companionway: A starboard companionway leads from the salon aft toward the master stateroom.
- Master stateroom: Occupying the boat's full beam, the spacious master cabin features a centerline queen berth, ample storage lockers, and a private ensuite head with a separate stall shower.
