The renowned Gulfstar 43, built in 1979 by Lazzara Boatyard in St. Petersburg, Florida, has beautiful classic lines. The Center-Cockpit configuration provides exceptional safety for shorthanded, long-distance sailing.


Varnished teak trim on deck, dark blue hull with red trim-line and boot-top, cream and off-white deck and lots of custom-made stainless-steel fittings.

    Details of Accomodation

    The center-cockpit is ideal when entertaining guests onboard as it provides for great physical and sound separation with independent forward and aft staterooms, each with their own private heads.


    The spacious salon has a large central teak dining table, and it folds down to allow for easier movement inside the boat when not in use. The teal-colored ultra-suede seating that can be extended to provide additional sleeping accommodation. The space is equipped with air conditioning, which provides both heating and cooling. There is a flat panel TV on the port-side. On the starboard side there is a book shelf and a hanging locker forward.


    The Galley is to port of the companionway, while the navigation station is to starboard of the companionway.


    The Galley has two round stainless-steel sinks, gimbaled two-burner stove with grill and oven. A Crosby 12v refrigerator, microwave, manual and pressure water systems, electric fan and fixed overhead ventilation.


    The owner's stateroom is aft and has its own private head, basin and shower. The stateroom is equipped with air conditioning that provides heating and cooling. The mattress is full sized queen, 5" thick latex. There is a hanging locker and drawers to starboard.


    The forward v-berth stateroom has a connecting door to the forward head. There is a hanging locker and storage under the berth. Access to anchor locker by waterproof bulkhead door.


    The forward head has laminate surfaces with basin, hot and cold pressured water, shower, teak framed oval mirror, and cabinets above and below the basin. The head can be enabled to discharge overboard for ocean sailing, or into a 20-gallon holding tank. The system is complete with manual pump and diverting valves.

    Electronic Equipment

    Autopilot - Raytheon 100 course computer with pod mounted Raytheon 6000+ Autopilot control head and Raytheon ST600R remote with cable driving Benmar motor with electric clutch linked to the steering cable.

    GPS - Garmin GPS128 external "navpod" mounted GPS at helm with NEMA link to autopilot and radar. Additional interior GPS alarm.

    Autohelm - ST30 "Navpod" mounted instruments (depth, speed and wind).

    Radar - Raytheon Pathfinder R70 CRT radar monitor above navigation table with Raytheon Raydome 24" scanner mounted on the stainless-steel gimbaled mast bracket.

    VHF - Standard Horizon "Quest" panel mounted VHF Radio with DSC linked to GPS with masthead mounted VHF aerial. Remote pod mounted VHF deck speaker.

    Electrical

    Mains Power

    • Heart Interface "Freedom Marine" Model 30 3000-Watt inverter providing up to 25 amps of power at 120 volts (60 hertz) to power outlets throughout vessel. Remote panel for easy control of all inverter/charger functions.
    • Power outlets in following locations: Forward Stateroom, Forward Head, Salon, Galley (x2), Navigation Station, Aft Stateroom, Aft Head.

    Battery Charging

    • Heart Interface Freedom Marine inverter provides 140-amp battery charging from shore-power.

    Drive: Borg Warner 71 hydraulic "Velvet Drive". 1" Stainless Steel shaft.

    Engine Instruments: Tachometer, oil pressure, temperature, alternator voltage (before isolator), engine hour meter.

    Sails and Rigging

    Currently sloop rigged but also mast and deck hardware installed for cutter rig. Inner furling staysail available.


    Standing Rigging:

    • Single spreader, heavy gauge aluminum mast stepped on keel with double rope clutch, cleats and two Barient #21 halyard winches.
    • Boom, heavy gauge aluminum, with 3-rope clutch (new 2005) and Lewmar 16 double-speed winch.
    • Profurl NC42 manual roller furling with reefing line led aft to cockpit with block and cam cleat.
    • Garhauer sliding genoa cars on rail-mounted stainless-steel track with 4 purchase tackle led back to cam cleats for easy adjustment from the cockpit.
    • Custom made turning genoa sheet blocks by Garhauer Marine.
    • Coach-roof mounted tracks with adjustable Garhauer fairlead cars for staysail sheets.
    • Garhauer solid boom-vang led back through deck organizer to rope clutch in cockpit.
    • 2 Barient #28 self-tailing primary winches to cockpit.
    • Mainsheet traveler and car with 4 purchase block traveler car adjustment with cam cleats, 2 boom bails with 5 Garhauer blocks to mainsheet with clutch to Barient #21 winch.
    • Lewmar Ocean 40 two-speed genoa reefing winch to cockpit.

    Sails:

    • 120% Genoa with foam luff and Sunbrella UV Strip.
    • Mainsail three battens with two slab reefs.
    • Inner Staysail (for when cutter rigged).

    Running Rigging:

    • Halyards - main, staysail, spinnaker and genoa all with S/S shackles.
    • Running backstays with hard eyes, 4 purchase Garhauer blocks and shackle blocks.
    • Lazyjacks mainsail containment system.
    • Reefing lines and outhaul.

    Ventilation, Heating and Cooling

    Air Conditioning: 2 Marineaire reverse-cycle air-conditioning units installed for cooling and heating in main salon and rear stateroom.


    Vents:

    • Nicro "day and night" solar powered s/s vent in forward head.
    • Beckson vent-o-mate s/s passive ventilators in salon, galley, aft head and aft cabin.
    • Permanently mounted 12v electric fans installed in salon, galley and aft stateroom.



    Deck and Hull

    Stainless Fittings:

    • 8 Stainless Steel opening ports from Newfound Metals with mosquito screens. Two elliptical fixed s/s ports with frosted lenses to aft stateroom.
    • Anchor platform custom made polished 1/4" x 2" s/s by Garhauer Marine with teak insert with rollers for two bow anchors.
    • Mast bars - 1.5" tubular s/s custom made by Garhauer Marine to port and starboard sides of mast - provide exceptional safety for reefing and raising/lowering of mainsail.
    • Bow pulpit with rails, high side stanchions with double lifelines, access gates both port and starboard with pelican release hooks; gate support with hinged 6" s/s bathing ladder complete with stanchion mounted retaining bracket.

    Steering:

    • Pedestal wheel steering (chain, cable and quadrant) with emergency tiller.
    • Danforth Constellation 5" pedestal mounted main steering compass with binnacle, protective cover and red night-time lighting.

    Ground Tackle

    • Main Bow Anchor - 45 lb. CQR type anchor with 170' of 5/16" Chain.
    • Secondary Bow Anchor - 35 lb. genuine CQR with 15' of 5/16" chain and 150' of 1" dia. nylon plat rode.
    • Lofrans Tigres 1200-Watt Anchor Windlass with Circuit Breaker, deck foot-controls and toggle control at helm.
    • Ankarolina kedge 1" anchor webbing on roll 185' long with 20H Danforth kedge anchor with 10' chain.
