Prometej was built in steel by Romanian yard Galazi Cant Santiebul and delivered in 1957 as an ocean-going tug with an ice strengthened hull. She had a thorough conversion in 2005 to turn her into a go-anywhere expedition superyacht. She can be considered a new construction from 2005, notwithstanding that the original classic line was maintained.
