Vessel Overview
Broward Marine is a ship builder began business as a refit and repair facility and delivered their first yacht in 1953 in South Florida. Another notable delivery was to the owner of Jim Beam Distilleries in 1958. They also had a hand in building minesweeping vessels for NATO contracts before shifting back to a focus on yacht building.
With over 300 Broward Yachts built and a popular following over the years for owners and their families cruising every major yachting market in North America and beyond.
Their all aluminum series went into production in the 1970s and saw the first ever triple diesel engine yacht built with their 92 ft M/Y Jervet. Another fascinating delivery was the 112 foot M/Y Britannia with triple Detroits for a blistering 43 knot speed in the late 1980s. In the 1990s other deliveries included the tri-deck M/Y Pegasus, also a triple engine yacht in 130 feet, and the 156 foot M/Y Bubba Too as the largest US aluminum delivery at that time. As a sistership to those and the other 300 Broward Yachts delivered, BLACKWOOD is a 1998 Broward 103 ft Pilothouse Motor Yacht in fine company. The owners have proudly cruised aboard with family, friends, and charter guests over the last several years and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. They are looking for a larger vessel and have put Blackwood on the market for sale.
Blackwood Walk-through
Blackwood is a 103 ft Broward Pilothouse Motor Yacht offering large windows throughout the main deck to enjoy views and updated interior appointments that add value. The quality craftsmanship is evident throughout the yacht, from main deck to lower decks and especially above on the upper deck. It has been a very popular charter yacht but owners who have themselves been cruising for 30 years. They enjoy providing lifetime memories to their friends and guests in the Pacific Northwest and are looking for their next vessel.
Wide body main salon takes advantage of the full beam on the main deck, giving views of surrounding anchorages and cruising immediate and personal. Flybridge and upper helm offer dramatic views and lots of entertaining space at the bar and settees that surround the upper deck. A hard top provides shade for the sun at the forward half of the flybridge while boat deck provides space for deck chairs and soaking up the rays.
Side deck boarding to the forward end of the salon or via swim step allows a variety of docking situations. This vessel has been under the care of a professional crew – and it shows. A quick peek into the engine room will show this in the tidy space and clean surfaces. The rebuilt Detroit Engines and new paint by Delta Yachts Shipyard in Seattle gives the engine room its sparkle of a professional refit of the Main Engines in late 2023 and early 2024. With just over 600 hours reported since the engines zero’d out, this vessel shows very well as a great example of a continuously updated and professionally maintained Broward Motor Yacht.
Entering the Salon from the Aft Deck brings you into the heart of the vessel. The large lounge-style comfortable settee to port with coffee table provides seating for entertaining guests and sharing the view out the expansive windows. To starboard across from the settee are 2 barrel chairs and a small sofa facing inboard towards the port settee. Guests walk through the salon to the dining room. To port of the dining room takes them to the side deck or stairs to the lower cabins. To starboard as you walk forward through the dining room you can take the passageway to the side deck or galley forward.
NEW - The Main Salon has had new Italian carpet installed with additional sound shielding to make for an even quieter cruising experience. Custom wall coverings and new overheads create a warm atmosphere aboard that definitely makes you feel at home..
The Salon and Dining room are framed by low cabinets for storage and artwork and sculptures atop the counters. Works seen in photos will not convey with the sale as they have personal importance for both the unique areas in Canada and Alaska that have stories attached to them.
The Dining room features an expandable table centerline with seating for 6 -8 with comfortable fabric seat backed chairs, bright lights and warm rich woodwork surrounding the salon and dining room. It is a very comfortable and inviting space no matter the season.
Passageways from the Dining Room forward – Port Side Decks Main Deck Door and Stairs to Lower Cabins.
Starboard Side Decks Main Deck Door and forward to Galley and VIP Stateroom forward in the lower deck. Also on the main deck passageway (stbd) is a dayhead.
Both Port and Stbd sides as you go forward from the Dining Room allow you access up the short set of stairs to the Pilothouse.
Next forward and up several steps inboard is the Pilothouse. Centerline helm and electronics dash has seen upgrades to electronics over the years and recent additions include the (3) Furuno Digital Multi-funtion displays on FB and Hytera Handheld PoC Radios. One of the great features aboard Blackwood is the Enclosed Flybridge. Excellent visibility awaits you whatever the weather. With cruising to destinations in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and Alaska - there is likely to be different types of weather. The enclosure keeps everyone toasty and dry yet able to open up and enjoy the sunshine and breezes sunny hot days.
The Flybridge
This is naturally one of the popular areas aboard. Whether cruising in sunshine or rain, this space provides excellent viewing with the protection of the hardtop, large bright polycarb windows that can slide aside for fresh air, and 4 overhead glass panels that allow light to the flybridge. This space, too, takes advantage of the full beam and puts your viewing and windows right at the beam. A centerline area for serving alfresco meals and beverages throughout the day give it a natural gravity for conversations and company.
With a flybridge bar, guests can enjoy snacks as well as meals in the dining room, aft deck, galley, and up at the flybridge alfresco style. The galley is on the main deck forward and offers bright views. The VIP is just off the galley so these guests get first dips on breakfast if you aren't careful. Fresh cinnamon rolls the chef has prepared go well with a cup of anything first thing in the morning.
With both covered areas as well as settees for relaxing in the sunshine on the boat deck, the Flybridge is a wonderful space enjoyed by all. Port and Starboard docking stations – in addition to the centerline helm – allow for lengthwise visibility to the dock while docking.
The Davit is a Nautical Structures EZ-2000 DC/Hydraulic mounted to the aft end Port side. The teak decks are in good shape and run from the Flybridge helm aft to the end of the crane. The kayaks are located on non-skid inside the rails. Owner’s have a custom 33 ft aluminum tender they use as shore boat and for fishing adventures. (also available for purchase separately – please inquire with the broker. The fishing tender is towed while the 15 ft Zodiac resides on the boat deck aft of the enclosed flybridge.
