Mike Scalisi
Boating is in Mike Scalisi’s blood. He grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts at the boatyard his family still owns today. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor's degree in Marine Affairs, Mike moved to Fort Lauderdale, where he started out washing boats for Allied Marine to get his feet wet. With a tireless work ethic, his career blossomed from there.
Mike had a 100-Ton USCG captain’s license, so he found work quickly. He took a job as a mate on a 100’ Westship that traveled with a classic 46’ Merritt. For six months, they traveled the Caribbean, visiting virtually every Caribbean island, from St. Thomas to the Grenadines, and then spent three months in the Bahamas, competing in the Bahamas Billfish Championships.
He went on to run a few private sportfish vessels before becoming the fleet captain for Lazzara Yachts. Mike’s responsibilities there included all new factory yacht deliveries from 68 to 116', captain and crew orientations, offshore closings, and brokerage fleet maintenance. After five years, he accepted a position as a yacht broker with MarineMax. His boat-brand specialties were Hatteras and Cabo Yachts, but he also dealt with brokerage vessels of all shapes and sizes. In 2012, Mike was named the number one Cabo salesman in the country.
Today, HMY is proud to have Mike as a member of its expert team. His knowledge, passion, and dedication to his clients is well known throughout the industry. He is an HMY perennial top performer, closing yachts of all shapes and sizes. Mike is a proud member of the International Yacht Brokers Association Board of Directors (2020-2022). Fort Lauderdale Magazine readers have named Mike BEST BROKER IN LAUDERDALE 2020 and 2021 in the Annual BEST OF LAUDERDALE issue.
