Marty Letts
Marty has enjoyed every part of his extensive career in the boating industry. With experience in production, service, sales, and as a licensed captain, Marty’s most gratifying experiences have come with the moment a customer takes delivery of their new boat. “The whole team has worked so hard to get to this point. The excitement is palpable, and it is extremely rewarding.” After spending his boyhood summers in the Les Cheneaux Islands on the northern shore of Lake Huron, Marty followed his passion for boating and headed to the ocean where, as a professional crew and captain, he logged thousands of miles from the Caribbean to the North Sea, Baltic, and the iceberg laden regions of Labrador and Newfoundland. The experience and practical knowledge gained from working aboard both sailing and powerboats lead to a position with Hank Hinckley’s Ocean Cruising Yachts, a custom builder of luxury yachts in Maine. As Project Manager, Marty worked closely with clients, production, and equipment suppliers. The opportunity to supervise the design and construction of an 80’ aluminum Cutter in Denmark lured Marty away from Maine and eventually brought him back to Michigan where for 16 years he was the Great Lakes Sales and Service Director for Hinckley Yachts. Marty is excited to be part of the Down East Yachting team. “It is a great opportunity for me to be able to work with such a knowledgeable team of professionals and to represent a venerable yacht builder like Sabre/Back Cove.”
