Captain John LaGrone joined Galati Yacht Sales in November 2019 and leads our sport fishing and maintenance teams at the beautiful Los Sueños Resort in Costa Rica. Captain John is an icon in the sportfishing industry. His impressive worldwide fishing experience, IGFA world records, and tournament wins speak for themselves. 

John first met Carmine Galati in 2010 when they fished a Tournament together aboard Game On with Captain Tony Carrizosa. The team came away with a win for the Los Sueños Signature Series. Together with the President of Viking Yachts, Pat Healy, Drew McDowell of Palm Beach Towers, and Carmine Galati, the team has won Leg II of the Los Sueños Triple Crown Series twice more in 2019 & 2020. During these tournaments, John was responsible for procurement and preparation of all tackle, along with oversight and placement of crew members and maintenance for the Team Galati 58’ and 62’ Viking tournament demos. 

John was so impressed by Carmine’s integrity, work ethic, and family values that he jumped at the opportunity to join Team Galati.

John LaGrone has completed the YBI Broker Course and is a Licensed, Bonded Professional Salesman. He feels fortunate to be working along-side his longtime fishing buddy and now broker mentor, Tony Carrizosa. John is fluent in Spanish and is a permanent resident of Costa Rica. With 40 years in the industry as a sport fisherman, John has a vast network of boat manufacturers, boatyards, and yacht and boat service teams around the globe. His experience with international yacht shipping will ensure you have a stress-free experience.
