Inspired by the resilient mongoose, the Mangusta brand was established to offer fast, open-designed superyachts to an international clientele. Founded in 1985 by the Balducci family as part of the Overmarine Group, this quintessentially Italian brand remains under the Balducci family’s stewardship, with Giuseppe Balducci’s children, Maurizio and Katia, playing vital roles in its success. The brand’s debut model, the Mangusta 80 Open, was a 24-meter planing-hulled superyacht driven by waterjets, breaking new ground by combining speed with luxurious comfort in an open vessel design.

As Mangusta’s reputation grew, so did the size of their creations. Today, over 90 of the 300 yachts launched exceed 100 feet in length, showcasing the brand’s evolution from sporty dayboats to impressive superyachts. For more than three decades, the Overmarine Group has demonstrated that Mangusta’s innovative approach and sleek designs set industry trends and pave the way for future advancements.

With state-of-the-art shipyards located in Viareggio and Pisa, Mangusta now offers a diverse portfolio of semi-custom luxury yachts, including the MaxiOpen, GranSport, and Oceano series. These lines provide clients with the flexibility to tailor the interior and layout of their yacht to match their personal style and preferences. Mangusta’s models range from high-speed motor yachts to expansive cruisers, with options for GRP, aluminum, or steel hull construction depending on the owner’s needs.

Mangusta entered the displacement market in 2016 with the delivery of the tri-deck motor yacht Namaste, the first steel-hulled yacht produced by Overmarine under the Mangusta Oceano line. More recently, the first fully aluminum-built Mangusta GranSport 45 was completed.
