In 1982, Dave Christensen, a retired home builder and real estate developer from Vancouver, Washington, ventured into boatbuilding at the age of 50 by purchasing an 80-foot (24m) motor yacht. Facing challenges with the yacht, Dave decided to take on the project himself by ordering a hull from Westport Shipyards and completing the build on his own. Before the yacht was finished, an interested buyer made an offer, which Dave accepted. Recognizing the potential of this new path, he founded Christensen Shipyard in 1985, and the company officially began operations a year later.

With over 30 years of experience and 44 yachts delivered, Christensen Yachts established itself as one of America’s premier superyacht builders. Based in Washington, Christensen Yachts ceased production in 2020, but its legacy and demand in the brokerage market have continued to grow ever since.
