Description
S/V Remedy is not your typical Jeanneau 57. Professionally refit between 2021–2025
under the care of a full-time captain, she has been transformed into a true bluewater
expedition yacht. From engineered running backstays (rare on this model), to a fully
integrated storm sail plan, watertight aft lazarette and expanded fuel tankage with
1,000+ NM motoring range, Remedy is ready to cross oceans safely and in comfort.
She stands apart from her sisterships with her custom hard top with integrated lighting
and crystal clear dodger, dual Webasto diesel heaters, and a meticulous service record
that includes full 2025 rebuilds of both her Volkswagen 2.5L diesel main engine and her
Cummins/Onan generator with deep spares inventory. Every system has been
evaluated, upgraded, or replaced with offshore redundancy in mind. Whether for family
circumnavigation, high-latitude cruising, or luxury liveaboard life, Remedy offers turnkey
confidence on a proven Philippe Briand design with enormous cruising spares inventory.
Remedy has been transformed into something rare: a true expedition-ready passage
maker, painstakingly re-engineered by professional yards, riggers, and her full-time
captain. This is the most thoroughly prepared Jeanneau 57s on the market today — an

S/V Remedy — Offshore Upgrade
Showcase
Jeanneau 57’ | Professional Upgrades at Thunderbolt Marine, Inc.
Watertight Security: Aft Lazarette Transformation
One of the most significant projects at TMI was a complete redesign of the aft lazarette. Fleming
Marine Composites created a new athwartships bulkhead and modified the drainage system,
transforming a vulnerable cockpit space into a true watertight compartment.
● New sump and bilge pump system installed.
● Original aft scuppers blocked and new forward drains fitted.
● All penetrations were re-worked with watertight glands.
Result: Boarding seas are now kept entirely out of the accommodations, ensuring Remedy
meets modern offshore safety standards.
Hull & Bottom Renewal
Remedy’s hull received a full strip to gelcoat, barrier coat, and new antifouling system.
● Two coats of epoxy barrier for long-term hull protection.
● Three coats of Trinidad Pro antifouling at the waterline and leading edges.
● All bronze grates & seacocks refurbished, restoring clean water flow.
● Fresh boot stripes applied.
● Keel bolts polished bright, confirming an uncompromised hull-to-keel joint.
Result: Remedy has a foundation as strong and fresh as a new build, with maximum
underwater efficiency.
Propulsion & Drive Enhancements
Remedy’s driveline was not only rebuilt but improved for safety and offshore reliability.
● Line-cutter Spurs installed on the shaft to protect against fishing gear fouling.
● Propspeed applied to prop & shaft to prevent barnacle growth.
● New shaft cooling thru-hull installed.
● P-bracket re-bedded and cutlass bearing replaced for structural integrity.
Result: Smooth, vibration-free performance and protection against common offshore hazards.
Deck & Hardware Improvements
Several refinements brought Remedy’s deck systems to offshore-ready condition.
● CNC-machined shower grates in King Starboard—durable and clean.
● Stainless-steel fairlead straightened and reinforced.
● Anchor windlass serviced, re-wired, and motor replaced
Result: Day-to-day operations are now smooth, safe, and reliable under heavy use.
Power & Systems
Thunderbolt Marine also carried out key electrical and systems upgrades.
● New Hubbell 50-amp shore power receptacle and cord connectors.
● Fuel tank hold-downs rebuilt with new J-bolts for secure stowage offshore.
● Bow thruster lower leg replaced and motor bench-tested.
Result: Power and maneuvering systems are modernized, safe, and reliable in both marinas
and tight anchorages.
Offshore-Ready Summary
Every improvement at TMI was guided by a philosophy of safety, seaworthiness, and long-range
independence:
● Watertight aft lazarette with dedicated bilge system.
● Hull renewed with barrier coat and premium antifouling.
● Propulsion enhanced with line-cutters, Propspeed, and structural upgrades.
● Deck hardware renewed for offshore strength.
● Power and thruster systems fully serviced.
Remedy now stands as one of the most extensively upgraded Jeanneau 57s
afloat—uniquely prepared for bluewater passagemaking.
