"Heartbeat" is a low hour 1996 Hatteras 50 Sport Deck, Hull #2 of the 50 Sport Deck Series. The current and only 2nd owners have owned her since 1997. She has cruised on the Chesapeake Bay in brackish water for the past 25 years and has only 420 hours on her diesels and 328 hours on the generator.

Description
"Heartbeat" is a low hour 1996 Hatteras 50 Sport Deck, Hull #2 of the 50 Sport Deck Series. The current and only second owners have owned her since 1997. She has cruised on the Chesapeake Bay in brackish water for the past 25 years. "Heartbeat" has only 420 hours on her diesels and 328 hours on the generator.
The Hatteras 50 Sport Deck offers a 2-stateroom layout, an aft owner's cabin and a forward guest cabin, both with centerline walk around queen berths and en suite dry heads.
The main salon is large and open with comfortable seating areas for 6, 6'6" headroom, an entertainment center and great views with the large windows.
2 steps down from the main salon forward is the U- shaped galley to port with ample storage and countertops with a full-size refrigerator/electric 2-burner cooktop and microwave oven. On the starboard side is the dinette with seating for 4-6 people. The dinette can convert to another bunk.
The large enclosed raised aft deck offers plenty of space to furnish as you please. There are 2 cabinets (port and starboard) as well as 2 doors leading forward to the side decks and bow. 4 steps up is the enclosed Bridge Deck. There are 2 swivel chairs at the helm as well as a bench seat on the starboard side and port side. Instruments can be mounted both port and starboard side in the cover console areas.
"Heartbeat" would be a great coastal cruiser/liveaboard for those who want to enjoy being on the water and enjoying the Bohemian Lifestyle.
Owner's Cabin with Ensuite Head
Heading aft from the salon down 5 steps is the owner's cabin with ensuite dry head. There is 6'6' headroom throughout the cabin with the large center-line walkaround king berth. There are two night stands with drawers and reading lamps on each side of the berth. Outboard on the port and starboard sides is a 6'4" long vanity with 6 drawers. On the forward starboard side bulkhead is the entertainment console and AC/Heat controls. On the forward starboard side of the cabin is the large (5'9"X5'4") walk-in cedar line closet with a 2'2" wide storage shelf running the length of the closet. On the forward port side of the cabin is the ensuite dry head with 6'8" headroom. There is a vanity counter with a molded in sink along the port side, with storage cabinets underneath. The control panel for the Vacu-Flush Head/Shower Sump Pump/Waste Tank Monitor is mounted on the right side of the vanity mirror. Center-lined is the 4'8" long shower stall and tub with molded in seat and sliding glass door. The Vacu-Flush head is to starboard as you walk in.
Guest Cabin with Ensuite Head
Heading forward down 2 steps from the Galley/Dinette area to port the guest door to the forward head, across from the head door is a cabinet where the stacked washer/dryer is. Moving forward into the Guest Cabin with 6'4" headroom is the center-line queen (6'4"X5'10") tapered berth with 4 drawers under the berth.. The area above the headboard has access to the anchor locker. Along the port and starboard sides are cabinets and hanging lockers. There is a opening hatch ( 2'2"X2'2") with screen over the bunk, and a mirror (6'7"X1'5") behind the cabin door. A TV is mounted on the port side hanging locker. Access to the ensuite head is through the door aft on the port side. The head has 6'5" headroom. The vanity with molded in sink has under counter storage. The controls for the Shower Sump Pump/Vacu-Flush Head/Waste Tank Monitor are mounted at the vanity. The curved shower stall with molded in seat has a sliding Lexan door. The Vacu-Flush head is located on the left side shower.
Main Salon
Entering the Main Salon 4 steps down from the aft deck on the port side is the U-shaped settee which can convert to a double sleeping berth. To starboard is the entertainment center which is over the enclosed AC/Generator control panel. The entertainment center house the TV/Stereo/VCR/ DVD/CD players. Forward along the starboard side is a chair with side table. Behind and next to the chair are 2 cabinets housing the DC control panel and the AC panel. There is 6'6" head room, carpeted flooring, curtains with Venetian Blinds, AC/Heat control and a carbon monoxide detector.
Galley/Settee
Moving forward from the salon down 2 steps is the Galley/Settee area. To port is the U-Shaped Galley. There is a full size refrigerator and freezer, 2 burner electric cooktop and a Mirco-wave oven and single stainless steel sink. There is plenty of counter space as well as cabinets and drawers There is access hatch (2'X2'2") in the galley floor that opens to a massive storage area (3'6" deep, 7'8"long by10' wide) and access to the hot water heaters and the holding tank and overboard thru hull fittings. The Galley/Settee stairs raises up for engine room access. On the starboard side is the settee with seating for 4-6 guest. The settee can also be converted to another berth (6'X4'4") if need. There is storage under the aft seat and 2 drawers under the forward seat.
Aft Deck/Bridge Deck/Foredeck
Access to the aft deck is from the fiberglass swim platform's 6 molded in curved steps or via the mid ships side boarding gates, port or starboard, using the portable boarding ladder and walking aft through the glass doors to the aft deck. The swim platform has a hot and cold shower. The aft deck offer a huge amount of open space with 7' headroom and is enclosed with isenglass zipper panels. Facing forward on the port side of the bridge deck stairs are 2 storage cabinets, which if desired can accommodate a small refrigerator in the bottom cabinet and a TV/entertainment center in the upper cabinet. On the starboard side of the bridge deck stairs there is a fiberglass cabinet with 3 shelves. There are 2 teak chaise lounger chairs with cushions and 2 teak side tables. The enclosed bridge deck is 4 steps up from the aft deck through a glass doorway and has 7'3" of headroom with the hardtop. There is seating for 8 with 2 Murry Brothers pedestal helm chairs with swivel foot rest. To port is a 6'7" "L" shaped padded settee and to starboard the is a 3'7" padded bench seat. The helm area has port and starboard Lexan covered cut-outs for the electronics and the main engine cluster of instruments between.

The foredeck has an integrated teak and fiberglass bow pulpit with stainless steel anchor chock and roller housing a Danforth anchor with chain and rode controlled by the electric anchor windlass with 2 deck step buttons. There are 2 fiberglass deck boxes port and starboard for life jackets, dock lines and fenders. There is a mesh cover for the forward window as well as a solid canvas piece.
Engines/Mechanical/Electrical Systems
Engine room access from galley/dinette stairs four steps down. Engine room has 5'7" headroom and plenty of room to work on both sides of the engines and is nice an clean. Powered by twin Detroit 6V92 TA 535hp diesel engines, controls by Morse mechanical cable and linkage, with 2 3/4" stainless steel shafts, twin disc transmissions, double bolt flange packing glands, dripless shafts, external engine mounted raw water heat exchanger, 5 bladed props and under water exhaust. There are 2 molded FRP fuel tanks, one located at the keel (437 gallons) and the other (185 gallons) mounted aft.
