    50' Custom pilgrim Tribute 1987 - Resolute

RESOLUTE is a 50’ Custom Pilothouse trawler built in Cape Canaveral, FL. You will see a great similarity between the ever-popular Pilgrim 40 and RESOLUTE. The original Builder intended to increase dimensions but retain the excellent design and seaworthiness of the Pilgrim 40. The current Sellers purchased this extraordinary vessel in 2015 and are the third Owners. They spend six months every winter cruising the Bahamas and store the vessel on the hard in Florida for six months every summer. The engines being flushed with fresh water before each layup.

Her incredible heavy-duty construction makes her sturdy enough to handle most weather conditions, and her Owners report her to being a “beautiful at anchor” boat. Her hull is a SOLID FIBERGLASS LAYUP from gunnel to gunnel, ranging from 1 1/8” to 1 ½” thick. NO CORING! And her deck is also solid fiberglass layup 1” thick. NO CORING! Have Core Samples to prove! Most of their time in the Bahamas was at anchor, where they became the home base for all of the cruisers to tie up their tenders and enjoy her huge Bridgedeck!

The Mahagony interior woodwork is in very good condition. It was reported that the original builder was a carpenter and this certainly shows. There are many fine-tuned nuances in this vessel that show the attention to detail in the construction. A photo album with pictures during construction, as well as some of the original plans convey with the vessel - along with a 10-year Maintenance Log.

RESOLUTE is truly a self-sufficient blue-water trawler with solar power, a water maker, propane cooking, genset, and fuel-efficient twin Perkins engines. RESOLUTE cruises at 8.0 knots, which is her top speed, and has a cruising range of approximately 2000 nautical miles.

The Owners believe in redundancy and have prepared this vessel for every conceivable contingency. They take a great deal of pride-of-ownership in this vessel, and it shows. Giving her up has been a difficult decision, but they know RESOLUTE is ready for her next Owner. There is still plenty of time to visit the Bahamas this year, or to move on to points beyond, and RESOLUTE is truly ready to go.

United Yacht Sales is pleased to assist you in the purchase of this vessel. This boat is centrally listed by United Yacht Sales.

    Vessel Walkthrough and Details

    Walk-Through:

RESOLUTE can be boarded by the heavy-duty swim ladders mounted amidships on both the port and starboard sides, or by one of the two hanging ladders that can be mounted over the handrails anywhere on the vessel. There are no opening doors in the hull to compromise hull integrity and strength. The large cabin top Bridgedeck is accessible by the ladder from the Cockpit, or the heavy-duty ladder at centerline forward, in front of the Pilothouse.

The interior of RESOLUTE is accessible via the Cockpit door which leads directly into the Salon. The Salon can also be used as additional berth space and is where the current Owners preferred to sleep while at anchor. The Galley is forward of the Salon to port, with the Dinette and the Head across from the Galley to starboard. The raised Pilothouse is forward, with the helm to starboard. There are chairs for both the both the Captain and Navigator port and starboard, along with two Pilothouse doors leading to the side decks. The Stateroom is forward and down, with stairs to port.

    Hull, Cockpit, Decks and Bridge:

    Hull:

RESOLUTE is a full displacement trawler with a rising sheer line, a semi-flared bow, and a partial keel. The hull is a one-piece solid fiberglass design, with a minimum of 1.5 inches thickness; the transom is solid fiberglass above and below the water line. I have core samples to show the minimum 17 layer fiberglass layup schedule.

The hull is Epoxy painted white. It was stripped down to the fiberglass, sanded and professionally repainted white with an acrylic urethane enamel 3-part coating system in March 2020. The bottom is freshly painted and there are no soft spots or blisters. Also new zincs on all running gear.

The heavy duty rub rail was rebuilt in early 2020 and is made of a Taylor Made rubber “P” shaped dock edge.

    Cockpit:

The Cockpit features: a large built-in storage closet with shelving to forward port, a stainless-steel ladder through a hatch to the upper deck to starboard, a removable hatch into the Lazarette which also provides access to the steering locker, a white/blue LED ceiling light, and a custom door with a screened opening window with a shade and custom Phantom screen leads into the Salon. The Cockpit measures 15’6”W x 8’9” D.

The large Charbroil Performance propane grill is used by the Owners in the Cockpit and it has a quick-attach connector to the five FULL 30 lb propane tanks in the upper Bridge Deck.

The two “gravity” recliner chairs can be used in the Cockpit for seating. A portable step can be used throughout the vessel for boarding.

RESOLUTE has a VERY sturdy custom designed dinghy davit system (12/2022) which keeps the Cockpit, and upper deck free, while providing easy access to the Boston Whaler Tender. The davit has a cradle cable system which allows the Tender to be driven on and driven off. The tender lift is electric, with two 12v DC motors. To deploy and recover takes approximately 20 seconds. There is a spare davit system motor assembly and controller which convey with the vessel.

    Side Decks:

The full walk-around decks are white non-skid; the 30” wide covered side decks are flush with the Cockpit. The high bulwarks 46” tall allow for safe movement around the deck of RESOLUTE. There are numerous heavy-duty cleats and self-bailing deck drains; black composite cleats for fenders are throughout the vessel. The exterior of the entire super structure was primed and painted in 11/2022.

There are port & starboard Custom Pilothouse doors with screened opening windows creating airflow through the vessel which lead to the side decks forward. There are white/blue LED ceiling lights at each door.

The raised foredeck has a heavy-duty ladder which leads to the Bridge. This was installed by the second Owner. RESOLUTE has two seat cushions, with backs, that can be used on the raised foredeck to provide seating at the bow; the cushions were reupholstered in November 2022. The twin roller bow pulpit features a chain locker that drains into the bilge and the ground tackle.

    Upper Bridge Deck:

The large upper deck is completely surrounded by heavy duty railings and provides an excellent outdoor space for sunrise coffee, sunset cocktails, or sleeping under the stars. The raised Bridge section forward is approximately 9’6” by 11’6”. This raised portion of the Bridge Deck section previously has provisions for vessel steering. A new Owner can retrofit it back again to have a “Flybridge” control station if they wish.  The lower portion aft is approximately 20’6” by 16’6”. There is also a deck over the Cockpit which is outside the handrails.

The mounted solar panels provide shade over the Bridgedeck forward. A large roll of turquoise colored screening, which conveys with the vessel, was used by the current Owner to wrap portions of the Bridgedeck for privacy when needed.

Two rope hammocks are included with cushions and can be hung from the sturdy solar panel frames to provide relaxation space on the particularly lazy days at anchor. They are stored in one of the three deck boxes located to starboard. There is plenty of space to add additional furniture, seating or storage. Four blue stackable resin Adirondack chairs and a small white table convey with the vessel.

The deck over the Cockpit holds the propane locker, with 150 pounds of propane in five propane bottles. Two spare anchors are stored on the Bridgedeck aft. The davit crane on the Bridgedeck is obsolete because of the cockpit Tender davit system.

    Accommodations:

The interior of RESOLUTE is designed to have plenty of natural light and airflow, with good Headroom. The sole in the Salon, Galley, Head, and Pilothouse are all ¾” Oak hardwood in very good condition. There are two access hatches in the Salon sole to the engine room, while access to the mechanical room is in the Galley sole.

The mahogany woodwork throughout RESOLUTE is in very good condition. Quality materials & craftsmanship were used at construction, and it shows.

All the windows open from the top down, and act like a “transom window” to bring in fresh air. The wood blinds can also be lowered to the height of the open window. This provides privacy while the window is open.

All the lighting on RESOLUTE has been upgraded to LED.

    Salon:

The Salon on RESOLUTE is entered from the Cockpit door, which has a custom Phantom Screen that enhances the air-flow throughout the living space. There are two large, hinged hatches in the hardwood sole to access the engine room. Salon has 6’5” in height.

Two free-standing futons are to starboard, which fold-out to two double berths. Two wood folding “TV” tray tables are stored between the futons and can be used in the Salon or in the Cockpit. There is open storage space beneath the futons.

A single daybed is to port. The area under the daybed has drawers for storage which go all the way to the cabin sides. The built-in end tables on either side of the daybed also have storage. A small end table that was originally between chairs to port is on top of the aft end table to port and can be relocated.

A Sony 42” Flat Screen television is mounted forward to port. The Salon walls are vinyl “contact” wallpaper beneath the wood trim.

A pocket door separates the Salon and Galley and can be used for privacy when the Salon is used for additional berths.

Previously the Salon was air conditioned, but the compressor and air handler have been removed, but the ductwork and registers remain.

    Galley and Dinette:

The 10’ U-shaped Galley is to port and has numerous Mahogany cabinets for storage; the cabinets all secure tightly. The Galley also features marble countertops, a double fiberglass sink with a one-touch pull-out faucet, a filtered drinking water faucet, two electrical outlets, 12v lighting, the timer for the hot water heater, and an opening window over the sink with a wood blind. The “butcher block” countertop forward is made of Acacia wood, which is considered very durable with naturally occurring oils that are anti-bacterial and anti-fungal.

The Wolf propane two-burner cooktop (11/2022) has a spark ignition but does not need power to function. Each burner has separate controllable high/low flames, with a light-up control display. The propane control valve for the vessel is in the Cockpit ceiling at the Salon door. The stainless heat shield behind and over the cooktop has integrated air space to allow the heat to escape.

The Galley sole has a hinged-hatch-within-a-hinged-hatch which provides access to the ladder into the mechanical room. There are two chest freezers in the mechanical room. One is 3 ½ cubic feet; the other 5 cubic feet. The Owners report that they fill both freezers for a six-month season in the islands.

The AC/DC electrical panel is in a lower cabinet just inside the Galley.

The Dinette is across from the Galley, forward of the Head. There is additional drawer storage under the Dinette, which is one step up, and features a hardwood sole. The four-seat Dinette has been converted to a two-seat Dinette with the addition of a platform with two Danby refrigerators (12/2023). The locking refrigerators are securely fastened.

    Head and Shower:

The Head on RESOLUTE is to starboard, across from the Galley. Two large towel bars are mounted on the outside of the door. The sole is the same Oak hardwood as the Salon and Galley. The Head features: vinyl “contact” wallpaper walls, a double door vanity with shelf, a stainless-steel bowl sink, a hot/cold faucet, a toilet paper holder, a large mirror, a large towel bar behind the door, a wall hook, a vanity light fixture, an opening window with a wood blind, and a Jabsco raw water Head (10/2015). Head pump replaced in 2022, and two spare pump assemblies convey with vessel.

The entire stall Shower (6’7” height) is tiled and features: a fabric Shower curtain, a fan, a removable Shower Head, a ceiling light, and a grab bar/towel bar.

    Pilothouse:

The Pilothouse on RESOLUTE is two steps up from the Galley. The hardwood sole continues in the Pilothouse and has rubberized mats for safe maneuvering.  The five-pane tempered glass windshield provides good sightlines and natural light. Each window has a separate one-finger honeycomb blind for sunshade while underway and for privacy when needed. There are two side doors with opening windows with screens which direct airflow through the cabin. Pilothouse is 6’4” height.

The helm features a stainless-steel ship’s wheel; a spare wooden ship’s wheel is stored in the mechanical room. The two multi-adjustable Pilothouse chairs mounted on heavy duty swing arms with diamond plate footrests were installed in November 2023.

The Pilothouse also features: four ceiling-height storage cabinets, two navigational drawers, and two reading lights. There is redundancy in the electronics and VHF radio. A unique feature of the gauges is that they are all set so that the optimal reading is at 12 o’clock; this allows the captain to know at a glance if all of the readings are where they should be.

Stairs to the forward Stateroom are to port in the Pilothouse.

    Stateroom:

RESOLUTE has a single Stateroom forward, down several open stairs from the Pilothouse. The Stateroom is designed to have two Queen-sized berths. Currently, there is a Tempur-Pedic mattress on the berth to starboard and has been only used for one season. The berth to port is used for storage and has a bar for hanging clothing. A curtain can be installed on the hidden curtain rod to cover the storage area, or a mattress can be added, but one does not convey with the vessel. Stateroom has 7’2” height with 3’3” height in the berth area.

Storage is also available in the large closet forward with two hanging bars, in the two sets of four drawers in the bulkHeads to both port and starboard, in the cabinet to port, and in the open shelves in the bulkHead to port. A Vizio television with Sony DVD player is on the cabinet to starboard.

There are two large windows, which have darkening covers, two wall lights, one reading light over the berth, a fan, and the digital control panel for the reverse cycle AC/Heat for the Stateroom. The sole is plywood covered with wall-to-wall rubber snap-in mats. The walls are covered with vinyl “contact” wallpaper.
