Description
This Bavaria 50 Cruiser is a well-equipped bluewater cruiser offering a spacious 5-cabin, 3-head layout ideal for family cruising, liveaboard life, or extended offshore adventures. Thoughtfully upgraded for long-distance cruising, she combines comfortable accommodations with excellent sailing performance and impressive self-sufficiency.
Recent upgrades include 1,200 watts of solar power with Victron monitoring and Mastervolt charging systems, a 90 L/hr watermaker, Garmin chartplotter and radar, Raymarine autopilot, AIS transponder, EPIRB, Iridium GO! satellite communications, dual VHF radios, and LED lighting throughout. The expanded galley and navigation area provide additional workspace, storage, and refrigeration, making the vessel particularly comfortable for extended living aboard.
Powered by a reliable Volvo Penta TMD22 70 HP turbo diesel engine, recent maintenance includes a renewed turbo, rebuilt raw water pump, updated Volvo instrument panel, and renewed cutlass bearing. The standing rigging was inspected in 2025, the mainsail serviced in 2026, and the genoa replaced in 2024.
A major structural improvement was completed when the deck-to-hull joint was professionally resealed and reinforced with fiberglass, resulting in a stronger vessel. A 2025 survey found no osmosis and no keel or structural grid damage.
Ready for immediate cruising, this Bavaria 50 offers an exceptional combination of comfort, capability, and value, with all cruising inventory included in the sale.

Owners Comments and Boat History
The boat spent the first part of her life in Sweden before being purchased by a Danish family in 2023. Prior to crossing the Atlantic, significant upgrades were made to the sails, electronics, upholstery, and electrical systems. One of the most notable improvements was the removal of the central saloon bench, allowing for a substantially larger galley, expanded navigation station, additional storage drawers, and increased refrigeration capacity. The result is a far more practical and comfortable platform for long-term cruising and remote work.
In March 2025, the vessel was purchased in Martinique by her current owner, who completed an extensive Caribbean cruise with his wife and three adult children, visiting the ABC Islands, Colombia, San Blas, Panama, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, the Cayman Islands, and Jamaica before arriving in the Dominican Republic.
While in Guatemala, a known weak point of Bavaria yachts of this era, the deck-to-hull joint, was professionally addressed. The joint was opened, resealed, and glassed over three times before the hull sides and deck were repainted and polished. The result is a stronger, stiffer, and completely dry structure. This modification also eliminated the original wooden rub rail and toe rail, replacing them with a cleaner and lighter fiberglass finish.
The vessel was fully surveyed in 2025, with all survey recommendations subsequently completed. The survey confirmed no osmosis and no keel or grid damage.
She offers an excellent combination of sailing performance and liveaboard comfort, regularly cruising at 9 knots while providing spacious accommodations, a large cockpit, generous saloon, and five private cabins. With 1200W of solar power and a watermaker, she is well-equipped for extended off-grid cruising.
All inventory is included, and the vessel is available immediately. European VAT was reportedly paid, although supporting documentation is unavailable. Prospective buyers should note that the dinghy is heavily worn.
