Description

1989 Offshore Yachts 48' Sedan

A rare opportunity to acquire one of the few Offshore Yachts 48 Sedans built.

Offshore’s legendary Bill Crealock hull design is known for soft entry, dry running, and exceptional offshore manners—traits that have made the brand a benchmark for quality semi-displacement cruisers. THE WET BAR stands out for her sedan configuration (far fewer built than the traditional raised pilothouse), her exceptional care, and her professional ownership since 2022.

She presents cleanly throughout, has been upgraded selectively yet tastefully, and shows pride of ownership everywhere you look.

Powered by twin Caterpillar 3208TA diesels showing just under 8,000 hours—but don’t let the hours fool you. These have been trouble-free, meticulously maintained, and run exactly as a properly-cared-for CAT 3208 should. They are dry, clean, smooth, and reliable.

If you’re shopping for an Offshore 48 or a quality 45–50’ sedan cruiser with traditional yacht craftsmanship, proper engineering, and above-average care, this one deserves to be at the very top of the list.

    Vessel Walkthrough

Stepping aboard from either the port or starboard midship boarding doors or through the transom gate and swim platform, you enter a wide, secure cockpit designed for effortless line-handling, fishing, or relaxing at anchor. From here, the large salon door opens into a bright, single-level interior—one of the signature benefits of the rare Sedan layout.

Wide side decks with high rails make movement fore and aft safe and confident for any crew.

Inside, the salon and galley-up arrangement delivers excellent visibility and a spacious, open feeling, with large windows surrounding the entire main salon. The L-Settee, Teak cabinetry, and overhead grab rails highlight Offshore’s practical design and quality build.

Forward to starboard is the lower helm, while the galley to port keeps the cook in the center of the activity. The flow from cockpit to salon makes the boat feel much larger than 48 feet and ideal for family cruising or entertaining.

Down a short companionway are the two staterooms and head(s), featuring a forward master with island berth and en suite head; plus a port guest cabin and guest/day head. An enclosed shower connects the two heads.Up top, the flybridge offers excellent sightlines, dual helm seating, and plenty of guest space—an ideal place to run the boat in fair weather.

The engine room is accessed via the large cockpit hatch or through a smaller hatch in the center of the main salon, revealing clean, well-kept CAT 3208TAs with just under 8,000 trouble-free hours and the type of maintenance only a marine-professional owner provides.

    Vessel Details

    Cockpit:

A wide self-bailing cockpit welcomes you aboard, offering plenty of room for fishing, line-handling, cruising chairs, or simply relaxing at the dock. The cockpit connects directly to the salon through a large sliding door, creating a natural indoor/outdoor flow. A large hatch/lazarette is located at the center of the cockpit sole providing easy access to the engine space and very generous storage.

There are engine controls to starboard, and a cockpit sink and prep station and storage to starboard.

Wide side decks with high rails on both port and starboard make access to the bow safe and confident, even underway. In the aft cockpit and to starboard is a ladder that leads to the flybridge above.

    Main Salon:

Entering the salon from the aft cockpit and through the sliding door, you’re greeted by large windows on all sides—one of the great advantages of the Sedan configuration. Natural light floods the space, and the visibility from the lower helm area is excellent. To port is a comfortable L-Shaped settee with storage beneath, and a folding dinette table. Teak cabinetry lines the starboard side, housing the entertainment system, a/c, and additional storage. Overhead Teak grab rails, a signature Offshore feature, offer safety and support underway. The salon is open, warm, and connected—perfect for family cruising or entertaining.

    Galley:

Galley up! Forward and to port, integrated into the salon, is the galley-up—a highly functional layout preferred by many cruisers. This configuration allows the cook to remain part of the conversation and provides excellent sightlines to the water. Being up in the salon means no steps to navigate while carrying food or drinks, and the chef enjoys the same great views as everyone else. And the ease of a sliding door to port ensures easy movement to the forward deck as well.

    • Fridge/Freezer
    • Stove/oven
    • Microwave
    • Ample cabinetry and counter space for meal prep underway, dockside or at anchor

    Interior Lower Helm Station:

To starboard, forward in the salon. The lower helm station is useful for cool mornings, pouring rain, or running inside during shoulder seasons. Visibility is excellent, and a sliding helm door to starboard allows quick access to the side deck for docking.

Aft of the lower helm is a set of wooden steps connecting you directly to the Flybridge Up, without having to be exposed to the elements.

    • Remote Racor vacuum gauges at lower helm
    • Main DC panel
    • Battery selector switches
    • Heart Interface Battery Monitoring System
    • Wheel steering
    • Well laid-out instruments, electronics and gauges
    • See Electronics and Navigation for details

    Staterooms and Heads:

Down a gentle set of steps from the salon is the accommodation deck, featuring two staterooms and two heads.

The Master Stateroom occupies the bow with a centerline island berth, flanked by hanging lockers and cabinetry. Teak joinery, ventilation hatches, and excellent privacy make this a comfortable, well-appointed space for extended cruising.

The Guest Stateroom is to port, arranged with a double berth. It is a bright and inviting space with good storage, ideal for family or visiting friends.

Heads: Two enclosed heads (master ensuite + guest/day head). The shared stall shower connects the two heads. They are well-finished with fiberglass liners for easy cleaning and teak cabinetry for warmth.

Easy access to the DC panel and the back side of the lower-helm electronics is provided through a dedicated compartment above the aft/day head, making service and upgrades simple and frustration-free.

    Flybridge:

Up top, the flybridge provides commanding views and excellent sightlines for piloting. Seating includes a captain's chair at center, plus double bench seating to starboard and an L-Shaped settee to port for guests. The flybridge is soft-enclosed in canvas and isenglass enclosure. There is ample room for instruments, navigation electronics, and storage. It’s an ideal place to run the boat in good weather and a favorite gathering spot while at anchor.

To port is access to the steps directly down to the lower helm and galley area, allowing easy and safe movement without being exposed to the elements.

Aft on the bridge is space for storage, a dinghy, and an electric crane. Steps to starboard lead down to the aft cockpit.
