Description
Braveheart is a striking one-owner, well managed vessel, continuously upgraded, loaded with redundancies for offshore reliability and ready to head to blue water today! Don't let the cockpit mounted grill fool you - Braveheart will keep pace with any regatta down the Atlantic coast, but she is easy to handle for daysailing or weekend cruising and comfortable on the hook.
The beautiful blue hull on Braveheart contrasts well with the modest amount of teak which was varnished in November 2025. The cherry salon boasts high quality leather seating and full galley with 2 refrigerators (setup to run as one freezer/one fridge), 4 burner stove with oven, microwave and plenty of counter space.
Critical redundancies to reduce risk and improve confidence when you're offshore:
- Navigation
- AIS with it's own screen/charts and GPS. If main Chartplotter/GPS goes down, you still have navigation on AIS
- 2 VHF radios and HF SSB radio
- LED Nav Lights plus Tri-Light
- AIS mentioned above, alone it won't give you river navigation but certainly bay and coastal navigation in an emergency
- Primary chartplotter and instruments on separate GPS
- Radio + legacy chartplotter on separate GPS
- Mooring
- 60# Manson anchor, rode is 200' 3/8 HT chain (new May 2019). -
- 45# CQR anchor, rode is 30' 3/8 HT chain spliced to 250' of 5/8 3-strand nylon
- The best windlass to be had: Lighthouse 1501 controlling anchors jointly or separately, rapid deployment for emergency situations
- Sails
- Removable Inner forestay with staysail/storm jib combo: sail used for heavy conditions or if jib fails and for long distance reaching.
- Mulicolor Cruising Spinnaker
- Halyards – 2 Spin, 2 Jib, 2 Main plus staysail
- Power
- Solar to power batteries for refrigeration and lighting
- Sanitation
- 2 heads and 2 holding tanks serving forward and aft head - if one system goes down, you still have a backup
Additional key features for safety and comfort
- Removable inner forestay for easy day sailing or weekend cruising
- Rigid vang holds Mainsail and boom without need for topping lift
- Doubled foot blocks to run staysail and jib at the same time, secondary winches added for staysail
- Weather cloths to keep sea spray out of cockpit, with doors to run spinnaker sheets
- Interchangeable cockpit sunshades and enclosures

Sailing characteristics
(Source: yachtdatabase.com) This section covers widely used rules of thumb to describe the sailing characteristics. Please note that even though the calculations are correct, the interpretation of the results might not be valid for extreme boats.
Stability and Safety
What is Capsize Screening Formula (CSF)?
The capsize screening value for Tartan 4600 is 1.86, indicating that this boat could - if evaluated by this formula alone - be accepted to participate in ocean races.
Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed
What is Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed?
The theoretical maximal speed of a displacement boat of this length is 8.4 knots. The term "Theoretical Maximum Hull Speed" is widely used even though a boat can sail faster. The term shall be interpreted as above the theoretical speed a great additional power is necessary for a small gain in speed.
