Description

The Island Packet 44 is a well-founded, blue water cruiser built by Island Packet Yachts and designed by the venerable Bob Johnson. The production run on this design lasted from 1991 until 1996; 35 hulls were built and delivered to owners during this time. The production materials include a solid laminate hull utilizing vinyl ester resins, a balsa core deck and a fully encapsulated lead keel. The design incorporates a true cutter rig and a spacious cockpit. The design is known for its comfort and livability making it ideal for extended offshore passages.

The interior of the IP 44 features a large, efficient sea-going galley and an expansive two cabin / two head layout that is a departure from the cramped 3 cabin charter designs. The cabin layout was designed to provide secure sleeping arrangements when underway. The galley is located to starboard near the companionway stairs and features deep double sinks, a 3 burner propane stove and large refrigeration capacity.

If you're meeting the IP 44 for the first time or comparing her to her successor, the 45, be sure to check out this blog. The article breaks down the core design features and what has evolved.

replaced. In 2016, they had all of the chainplates and tankage replaced as most

proactive Island Packet owners do. All normal service intervals of mechanical
