Vessel Overview

This 2018 Aquila 44 power catamaran has never been in charter service, a very important factor for any discerning yachtsman. The Aquila 44 hull and three cabin layout is well tested and gives interior space and accommodations comfort as would be expected from a much larger monohull, one perhaps in the fifty-five-to-sixty-foot range.

The primary stateroom is full beam and forward between the hulls. The bed is full walk-around and on the centerline with nightstands on both sides. To port is lots of closet space and the head which includes its own enclosed shower, a feature of not only the primary stateroom but also both guest staterooms. To starboard are two hanging lockers, a brand-new combination washer/dryer (installed in February, 2025), and a desk with plenty of light and a hidden vanity lit mirror and space for personal care items.

There is a guest cabin in each hull with fantastic views through windows facing either to port or starboard. If these cabins are seen by guests before they see the primary cabin they will think either is surely for the owner. The beds are not full walkaround but do comfortably sleep two adults. The port and starboard cabins are not quite mirror images of one another, but close. Both feature not only the magnificent views but also the previously mentioned private heads with enclosed showers and plenty of storage space.

The salon/galley space is almost full beam except for the space taken by the walkways on either side on the exterior. The galley has a microwave oven, an induction cooktop, lots of countertop space and top loading refrigerator and freezer space. A quick note on that; on the flybridge is an included aftermarket cooler or freezer, your choice with settings, that fills in nicely for longer voyages when away from markets and restaurants. Back in the galley/salon is a high-low table with very comfortable U-shaped seating for six adults. The table can be lowered and will then accommodate a cushion (included) that can then sleep an additional two people.

For serious cruisers, or those who want to be serious cruisers, the salon/galley space also had a second helm station. None of the Aquila 44’s that have ever been in charter service are so equipped with this rare and expensive option. Someone new to yachting who has perhaps been aboard an Aquila 44 in the BVI or Caribbean might not at first appreciate this option but soon will if ever in a weather condition where either heat or air-conditioning would be needed. Think carefully about where your cruising days might take you. The cold of the east coast of the United States or Canada to the north or maybe the humid heat of the deep south of the United States or the Caribbean.

The flybridge has the second helm station, of course, and is likely where you will want to command the boat when docking since it provides a better view all round. Both helm stations feature late model navigation aids, many of which were upgraded in 2023, and include radar and other features not found on previously chartered Aquilas. The flybridge is also an outdoor social center with another table and comfortable bench seating for six adults, an electric grill, more seating yet around the upper helm, and a wonderful hardtop covering it all. Brand-new EZ2CY windows, installed in January, 2025, allow for great viewing around the helm.

Forward on the main deck is a brand-new double sun pad. Also, new are all the cushions on the cockpit, yet a third area with seating for six adults around a table.

The capacious storage throughout the boat cannot be emphasized enough and includes several huge lockers, two of which are on the bow, one in each hull, that function well for lines, mooring bridles, and storage space for lots of luggage once your guests have settled into their cabins. You cannot appreciate the size of these lockers until you see them.

The foredeck also has, of course, the anchor which can be deployed from its location or from either helm station. A spare anchor is stored aft in a cockpit storage space along with electric cords, hoses, cleaning supplies and more.

The engines are in each hull. Because of the separation of the hulls steering the boat when docking or in tight spaces using the engines is incredibly simple. The boat can be spun in little more than its own length using the engines and leaving the steering wheel to keep the rudder amidships. There is, of course, an instrument that shows rudder position.

The center console tender is included. You will appreciate that when you are taking some of your longer trips which are, of course, very realistic considering the increased range given you with the additional optional fuel capacity included. And, since you have a watermaker aboard you have plenty of fresh water whenever you want it.

Mimi’s Oasis, the boat’s current name, has so many features and options that it is not possible to talk about them all. Please see the lists of equipment. Or better yet, arrange to see Mimi’s Oasis, or talk with your yacht broker. The boat was previously named Wasabi before being purchased by her current owners less than a year ago. In that time upgrades and options have been added. The boat is now being sold primarily because of health reasons.
