Description
The Morgan 40 is a solid and proven offshore cruiser that has been thoughtfully refitted and upgraded for comfortable liveaboard cruising throughout the Caribbean and beyond. Known for its exceptionally strong construction, this vessel features a very thick fiberglass hull with a full encapsulated keel, providing outstanding durability, offshore capability, and added protection for both the propeller and rudder. Designed for sailors seeking reliability and ease of handling, the boat offers multiple sail configurations, generous tankage, dependable systems, and a practical layout that makes extended cruising both safe and comfortable.
Below deck, the boat features a very open and spacious interior layout with excellent natural light and ventilation throughout. The forward V-berth is bright and airy and can be separated from the main cabin with a privacy curtain, offering flexibility between an open-concept feel and a more private sleeping area. The main saloon includes a second double berth, while the galley dinette table lowers to create an additional berth, allowing the vessel to comfortably accommodate family or guests. Interior comforts include a new Isotherm refrigeration and freezer system installed in 2025, a four-burner stove with oven, a 10-gallon hot water heater, 110V air conditioning, dual propane tanks with shut-off valves, and a recently installed fume detector.
The electrical system has been significantly modernized for off-grid cruising and liveaboard capability. Power is supported by a 300Ah LiFePO4 house battery bank installed in 2025, additional lead-acid house batteries, an AGM engine battery, dual 250W Renogy bifacial solar panels, an 800W inverter, and upgraded Victron charging and isolation equipment. Starlink Mini internet capability was also added in 2025, making remote work and offshore connectivity possible while cruising.
Navigation and electronics equipment includes a Garmin chartplotter with depth sounder, Autohelm 4000 autopilot, fixed and handheld VHF radios, Fusion stereo speakers, and a compass. On deck, the boat is well equipped for serious cruising with multiple anchors including a Rocna 45 primary anchor with galvanized chain, additional CQR anchors, a Maxwell electric windlass ready for installation, dodger, bimini, cockpit cushions, navigation lights, swim ladder, lifelines, and extensive dock gear.
Sailing performance is supported by aluminum main and mizzen masts, a full batten mainsail, multiple genoas, whisker pole, upgraded running rigging, and a full suite of Lewmar winches. The standing rigging and chainplates were replaced in 2016, providing additional peace of mind for offshore passages. Auxiliary power comes from the dependable Perkins 4-107 40hp diesel engine with approximately 3,700 hours. The engine received an extensive refit in late 2025 including new filters, hoses, coolant system components, lift pump, and servicing.
This vessel also includes a West Marine RIB-260 dinghy paired with an 8hp Yamaha Outboards four-stroke engine, making shore access easy and reliable. The boat comes with extensive original documentation and technical drawings dating back to when it was built, along with a 2025 survey available upon request. Never used for charter service, the vessel has been carefully maintained by long-term owners and recently cruised from Port Charlotte through the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, and the Dominican Republic, proving itself as a capable and ready-to-go cruising yacht.
