Description
Lenity is a splendid example of the classic LeComte Northeast 38. Designed by Bill Tripp and built by the LeComte yard in Holland, the Northeast 38 has graceful lines, sails beautifully and is quite comfortable, with a large cockpit and a delightfully well designed cabin. The cabin on Lenity boasts a glowing teak finish, salon seating, working kerosene heater, and berths for 6. Lenity is in great condition and has been turning heads in Camden Maine, Boston Harbor, and the cruising grounds in between for many years. Recent upgrades include all new through hull fittings, wiring, and electronics. The 2014 Beta 30 engine has about 200 hours on it. This lovely Sloop combines elegance and comfort with an eye catching attention to detail.
Rigging and Sails
Standing rigging was recently inspected and found to be sound. There is an inner forestay that can be led to the deck or stowed on the mast. The sail inventory includes main, yankee clipper jib, drifter, and spinnaker. There are two self tailing Anderson primary winches plus a cabintop winch.
Accomodations
The forward cabin has a V berth with a removable filler piece, storage drawers, and a hanging locker. Aft of this cabin is the head with shower to port and another hanging locker to starboard. The main saloon has a U shaped settee and table to port and a straight settee plus pilot berth to starboard. Moving aft, the galley, with a 3 burner stove and ice box are to port of the wide companionway, with a nav station and quarter berth to starboard. The interior is bright teak, with a teak and holly cabin sole. All wood is well maintained. There is a kerosene stove for heat and beautiful, brass hanging lamp.
Hull and Deck
The hull is solid fiberglass and the deck is Airex cored. Hull is Navy Blue Awlgrip. The teak toerails, handrails, cockpit combings, hatch covers, and drop boards are varnished. The decks are nonskid white. The large cockpit has teak seating with one locker under the port seat. Two large hatches open wide to allow air and light below. There is a large Lazarette aft of the cockpit.
