Description
The Pearson 33-2, designed by Bill Shaw and built by Pearson Yachts in Rhode Island, is representative of the balance struck between performance, durability, and cruising comfort. This 1986 model is a capable coastal cruiser with a reputation for seaworthiness and sensible design.
Hull and Deck
Constructed with solid fiberglass hull and balsa-cored deck, the Pearson 33-2 is known for its robust build quality. To port, a large refrigerator/freezer is concealed underneath the chart table, a signature Pearson touch that maximizes space efficiently. The main salon includes opposing settees and a fold-down bulkhead table. The private forward V-berth has a walk-through door, hanging locker with louvered doors, and shelving port and starboard. The aft stateroom provides queen-sized sleeping accommodations, a hanging locker, and additional engine access. Storage compartments are found throughout.
Engine
The boat is powered by a reliable 18 Hp Yanmar 2GM20F inboard diesel, a common model with parts abundantly available.
Tankage and Plumbing
The boat features plastic water tanks with deck fills, hot and cold pressure water, and bronze ball valves on all through-hull fittings. A molded FRP shower pan and vanity unit keep the head and shower compartment easy to clean, and mirrored, sliding storage locker doors keep the space clutter-free.
