Description

Solidly built for offshore cruising, the Carter 33 is a classic cruiser-racer sloop. This vessel has been lovingly maintained, and pride of ownership is evident throughout. Warm teak decks and cockpit welcome the skipper and crew.

Easy to manage shorthanded, she is a joy to sail with in-mast furling as well as roller furling headsail with a choice of a 155% genoa (approx 8 yrs old) or racing 135% genoa (approximately 3 years old). The Quantum mainsail is approx 4 years old. All sails are in very good condition. A running backstay allows fine-tuning the rig.

4 winches at the cockpit, two Lewmar 46 and 2 Lewmar 16s, provide easy handling of multiple sails. 2 winches, on the port and starboard side of the mast, manage halyards and topping lift. There is a rigid boom vang.

Silent, powerful below-deck Raymarine Smartpilot assists the short-handed sailor and also serves as a backup steering option.

Updated electronics in 2023 include both a 12 and 7 inch Raymarine axiom chart plotter in the cockpit, allowing skipper and crew to follow the course. An AIS receiver is provided by the Standard Horizon Matrix fixed-mount VHF. Two new programmable Raymarine i70 multi displays report wind data, depth, speed and more above the companionway, easily visible for all crew. A large Ritchie compass is at the helm.

An electric windlass with up and down foot pedals serves the 10 kg Delta anchor at the bow. There is an additional Fortress-style anchor.

A reliable Universal M3 20hp engine was installed in 2014 and has approximately 650 hours. There is a 2 blade folding Maxiprop, and the shaft has a dripless stuffing box. Batteries include a separate start battery, supplied by one 50 watt solar panel with MPPT controller, and 2 house batteries served by a 100 watt solar panel with MPPT controller. There is a Victron 12-30 battery charger.

Aft in the cockpit there is a hot/cold pull-out shower, a Magma grill, and a stern ladder, and access to a manual bilge pump to supplement the 12 volt electric bilge pump. A Lifesling is present on the rail.

Accomodations include a v berth with room for 2, 2 salon settees, and 2 pilot berths above the salon settees which can be used as sleeping quarters or storage. Additional storage is accessible in the settees. There is an additional quarter berth aft. 3 dorades and 2 Carafamo fans provide ventilation along with opening ports and hatches. The sole is teak and holly. A large salon table has 2 leaves, with storage for wine bottles in the center and additional storage below. All cushions are in very good condition.

Entertainment system includes a Sony stereo with bluetooth and mp3 capabilities. There are 2 Fusion speakers in the cockpit and 2 brand new West Marine speakers in the salon.

The galley has an integral 7.5 cu ft icebox and a Kenyon alcohol cooktop.

The head has a Rarian Elegance macerating electric head, and a sink with new pull-out faucet/shower. There is a 20 gallon holding tank. Hot and cold water are supplied by the water heater, heated by the engine or by the 12 volt system.

Required life jackets and pyrotechnic devices are on board.
