The Monk 36 gained popularity in the 1980s as a durable and affordable Taiwan import with a classic trawler profile and a traditional all-teak interior. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, decks are sandwich construction with balsa core and the hull features a skeg-protected prop as well as an upswept, well flared bow that contributes to her dry ride.
Forward, there is a large pullman to port. The guest head is located to port just aft of the forward cabin.Three steps up and you are in the main salon. The lower helm and sliding door to side deck are located forward to starboard. The L shaped galley is located to starboard - aft in the mail salon area. It includes a 3-burner electric stove, double stainless steel sinks and a stand-up Norcold refrigerator-freezer. To port is a large L-shaped settee with foldout dinette that seats six. The entrance to the aft cabin is to port located aft of the settee.. Two steps down leads to the luxurious master aft cabin with centerline queen berth and ensuite head with stand up shower stall. The engine and generator access is obtained by lifting the teak and holly cabin sole hatches.

The Seller has owned this boat since 1988 and while she needs some attention to the exterior cosmetics, particularly the teak trim, the interior is an absolute jewel box. When you enter the first thing you notice is there is NO OLD BOAT SMELL!. The deadlights are crystal clear. The interior joinery is in excellent condition. The beautifully executed upholstery is in fantastic condition. There are no signs of leaks anywhere and the engine room is immaculate. Exact hours on the super clean Perkins 135 diesel engine are unknown but based on owner's comments are estimated to be less than 1500 hours. The Onan 5KW Generator has 281 hours. As a coastal cruiser and/or liveaboard, there is probably no better opportunity on the market.
