Rick St. Cyr is the Founder of Veteran Yacht Sales and the executive leader behind its mission-driven approach to professional yacht brokerage and industry leadership. Raised on the New England coast, Rick developed an early and enduring connection to the water that has shaped both his personal pursuits and long-term professional vision.

A United States Coast Guard veteran, Rick’s maritime experience extends well beyond recreational sailing. His service included operations in some of the world’s most demanding environments, including the Arctic, Antarctica, Australia, and South America, with time spent off Cape Horn in the Southern Ocean. These experiences reinforced the importance of preparation, seamanship, and disciplined execution, principles that continue to define his leadership philosophy.

Rick is an accomplished competitive sailor with experience across major offshore and coastal regattas, including Block Island Race Week, Miami Race Week, and numerous East Coast events. His racing background informs a leadership style grounded in teamwork, accountability, and performance under pressure.

Beyond the water, Rick brings a broad and respected perspective to the maritime industry. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Marine Trades Association and was Editor in Chief of Sailing Strategies. He is a Certified Professional Yacht Broker, having earned the CPYB designation through the Yacht Brokers Association of America, and is an active leader within the International Yacht Brokers Association, contributing to the advancement of professional standards and ethical practices across the industry.

Rick’s industry leadership has been recognized internationally, including being named a two-time recipient of Groupe Beneteau’s Top Gun Award in Paris.

As Founder of Veteran Yacht Sales, Rick’s role extends beyond brokerage transactions. He provides strategic direction, cultural leadership, and long-term vision for the firm and its initiatives. This includes supporting efforts such as the Patriot Cup and All-Academies Cup, which reflect his belief that offshore sailing and the broader marine industry should reward preparation, leadership, and professional excellence.
