Captain Nick Gonzalez grew up fishing in various locations from the Outer Banks to Hawaii. He has a young face but has spent over 20 years fishing in Miami's waters as a recreational angler, professional mate, and captain. Nick started “Double Threat Charters” during 2011 while attending the University of Miami. After wrapping up his bachelor’s degree in business law, he went on to captain his boat full time and build his business to where it is today.

 Over the years, Double Threat Charters has been featured in Marlin Magazine, InTheBite Magazine, Florida Sportfishing Magazine, Coastal Angler Magazine, and more. During 2018, Captain Nick received the distinguished honor of Top Release Captain for Atlantic Sailfish as well as Top Release Captain out of all the Charter Boats in South Florida. At just 25, he was the youngest captain to ever receive these awards. During 2019 he repeated this honor by tagging the most sailfish out of anyone in the Atlantic. 

Double Threat Charters runs over 300 trips per year and maintains a reputation as one of the hardest fishing operations in South Florida. By making his living on the water, Nick has had to learn the ins and outs of boat ownership the hard way. During 2016 for example, he embarked on a yearlong renovation of his current boat, a 1972 43 Hatteras. During this process he spent 70+ hours a week involved in different projects and became proficient in fiberglass work, painting, AC and DC electrical work, and more. Between Nick and his crew, they fully renovated the boat and have since put over 10,000 hours on the systems in place.

Nick first activated his broker’s license during 2016 and is excited to be joining United Yacht Sales with his latest renewal. He has no shortage of experience owning and operating a variety of vessels and looks forward to sharing his enthusiasm for yacht ownership with his past and future clients.
