Don Aronow founded Formula in 1962 in Miami, Florida, where he introduced the original 233 deep-V hull design. This innovative design quickly made its mark, achieving significant victories on the national offshore racing circuit and establishing Formula’s reputation. Although Formula has evolved beyond its racing roots, the legacy of speed and performance lives on in the highly successful FAS³TECH series.

In 1961, Alliance Machine and Foundry acquired Thunderbird, and in 1964, they added Formula to their portfolio, producing both brands in North Miami. Thunderbird/Formula was later acquired by Fuqua Industries, an Atlanta-based conglomerate, in 1969.
