WALKTHROUGH
Boarding SOUTHERN BELLE from a floating dock is easy on to the fixed swim platform. From a fixed dock on to the aft or side decks, four hinged boarding doors via a Marquipt Sea stair make boarding easy.
The aft deck has a large U-shaped dining settee and four loose chairs. It is fully covered and gives access to the wide walkaround side decks. Easy stairs access the flybridge. Centered electric doors open to the large salon with port and starboard couches, coffee tables, built-in cabinets and a room divider partially separating the eight place dining table. Forward to port is the enclosed galley with separate exterior access as well as a pocket door from the dining salon. Going forward to starboard is the yacht’s day head inboard, a side deck entry door outboard, the steps to the pilothouse, steps to below and furthest forward the beautiful on-deck master suite with plenty of windows and a large lower level head with his and her heads and a dual access shower between.
Back in the main starboard side companionway nine curved steps lead to the lower accommodation foyer.
Forward below is a large VIP with a spacious head. Aft to starboard is an ensuite double berth cabin and to port an ensuite single lower berth cabin.
The Flybridge is reached via steps in the pilothouse or from the aft deck. About 60% of the flybridge area is shaded with the hardtop. A helm and bar next aft are to port with forward seating and a dining table to starboard.
Aft to the previous dedicated boat deck is a great area for sunning or adding the Fly Shade as needed now that the tender is below.
The crew area is accessed via a port side door and has a common galley and dining area, a captain’s double berth with private head to port and a bunk room with private head to starboard. Aft is a pantograph door to the swim platform with port and starboard walk-in lockers for storage and additional equipment.
SALON
Entered via dark tint counterbalanced electrically operated sliding doors, the salon is generously wide due to the yachts’ wide beam, a Johnson stand out trait. There are full drapes across the salon door and side lights.
Immediately to port is a rounded front cabinet with a Samsung 42” TV and two cabinet doors below. The cabinets house the Bose lifestyle stereo, a Direct TV receiver for the deck, a HD DVR SAT TV receiver for the salon, a Samsung Blue Ray player and a Sonos music system.
Going forward is a new three cushion sofa with abundant storage below. In front of the sofa is a boat shaped coffee table with two door storage within. The top of the table has burlwood trim around a Compass Rose inlay. Behind the sofa are four dark tinted windows with drapes, shades and sconce lights on the mullions between the windows.
Upon entering on the starboard side is a matching curved cabinet with two doors below for storage and two curved smoke glass doors above for glassware, lit from within.
Going forward is a matching couch and coffee table both with storage within. Outboard are matching windows, drapes, shades and sconce light. Forward is a two column room divider that separates the dining area.
The ceiling above has a boat shaped inset mirrored ceiling detail with seven LED lights and rope lights around the perimeter. Nine additional LED lights are around the ceiling detail. Also in this area are Bose speakers, a newly carpeted sole with a full carpet runner and digital A/C controls.
DINING SALON
Next forward is the dining salon with a glass boat shaped table with a padded cover. Around the table are eight high back upholstered chairs. Above the table is a mirrored matching boat shaped ceiling detail with seven LED lights and rope lighting around the perimeter. The forward bulkhead of this area is curved to match the table’s curve.
To both port and starboard are four mid-level cabinets and four low level cabinets for a huge amount of dinnerware storage.
This area is carpeted with a removable runner, eight LED lights above, digital A/C controls and Bose cube speakers.
STARBOARD SIDE COMPANIONWAY
Open to the dining area going forward is the companionway to the master cabin.
To port is the day head, steps to the pilothouse with the doghouse below, the main electrical panel and steps to the three cabins below.
To starboard is a side deck pantograph entry door and storage cabinets outboard. The sole is two tone marble with a Compass Rose inlay.
DAY HEAD
Just off the dining salon is the convenient day head. The sole is marble to match the vanity countertop. The vanity has a storage cabinet below and an undermount sink above. The corner is mirrored as well as the overhead.
Also in the day head is an exhaust fan and two overhead LED lights.
MASTER CABIN
Arguably the centerpiece of the Johnson 87 arrangement is her huge on-deck master stateroom. Accessed via the starboard side companionway, the king size berth is off the aft bulkhead with the berth facing the forward windows.
Under the berth are six drawers with additional storage available by raising the gas shocks. Either side of the berth are curved nightstands with storage on the starboard side cabinet. Above are mirrored panels with decorative sconce lights rising above each nightstand. The area between is a textured silk in a padded horizontal pattern.
Over the berth is a soffit with mirrored panels and four LED lights. The soffit is designed to deliver the cabins cool air delivery around the berth and not directly onto it.
On the starboard side starting aft are two curved cabinets, a desk with stool and light above followed by another two curved cabinet doors. Next forward is the carpeted five steps to the head below. At the foot of the berth is a curved cabinet with two cabinet doors and a pop-up 40” TV. To the port side of the berth starting aft is a two person upholstered settee with storage below including a safe.
Going forward are two curved cabinet doors, a vanity with a stool and hinged top, a light above and two more curved cabinet doors. In the aft two doors are a Bose lifestyle stereo, Direct TV HD DVR receiver and a Samsung Blue Ray player. Forward are five carpeted steps to the his/her head below.
Also in this cabin is a newly carpeted sole, nine vertical dark tinted windows, drapes, five speakers in the overhead, eight LED lights, two reading lights and a digital A/C control.
HIS and HER HEADS
This area is where the layout on Johnson 87’s allows some customization. SOUTHERN BELLE has the most practical layout with two distinctly separate his and her heads with a shower between.
The stairs from the master are of a waterfall design connecting port to starboard.
At the base of the stairs port and starboard are auto lit, cedar lined, hanging lockers - one port and one starboard. The sole of this area is marble and has a large hatch into the forward bilge.
Centerline is a shower with privacy frosting on the aft facing curved glass. Access is from each port or starboard head.
Each head has a granite countertop to match the sole, a cabinet in the vanity below, a China undermount sink with a single lever faucet and four mirrored medicine cabinets above. The toilet is a Dometic toilet. The overhead is mirrored with six LED lights. Inboard is the entrance to the tub/shower with dual access. The shower has a rain style overhead fixture and four body sprays and a handheld wall mountable fixture. The overhead is mirrored with two LED lights and an exhaust fan.
ACCOMMODATION FOYER
Off the starboard side companionway are nine curved varnished steps with step lights accessing the lower deck stateroom.
At the base of the steps going forward is the VIP. Aft is a curved marble shelf with mirrors above. That is flanked by entrances to the double berth cabin to starboard and the twin bed cabin to port.
The sole of this area is carpeted. A four cabinet stewardess locker is to port.

To starboard upon entering is a 22” LG TV with a Pioneer AV receiver and a Pioneer AV receiver and a Pioneer CD player in a cabinet on the forward bulkhead. Below is a u-line fridge icemaker behind a high gloss door. Outboard is a two door cedar lined auto lit hanging locker followed by a small, upholstered settee.

The helm is on centerline, six windshield wipers keep the view clear. The helm chair is an electronically operated Besenzoni black leather helm chair with a matching companion chair to starboard. The helm has three distinct panels wrapping around this area.
Aft to port is a chart flat followed by a raised three person settee inboard with a wood table on a stainless steel pedestal.
