Description
Introducing McConaghy Boats' Panther56 - Full Electric | Eco
Unleash the future of sailing with the Eco Panther Series by McConaghy Boats - a revolutionary line of full-electric yachts designed for ultimate performance and sustainability. This groundbreaking series consists of Panther 40, 48, and 56, with the 68 and 78 under development. The Panther series redefines your experience on the water, offering exhilarating speed and unmatched agility in a lightweight vessel that turns heads with its striking black topsides and sleek silver sheer lines.
The Eco Panther Series embodies sophistication and innovation, allowing you to embrace a greener lifestyle with a clean, modern interior. Designed to merge sustainability with cutting-edge performance, these yachts promise to redefine your adventures on the open water, offering exhilarating speed and unmatched agility in a lightweight vessel that turns heads with its striking black topsides and sleek silver sheer lines.
Eco-Friendly Design and Performance
By keeping the yacht simple and lightweight, the Eco Panther Series achieves the capability of being fully electric and eco-friendly. Motoring at 7.5 knots, it uses only 16.11 kilowatts of power in total. The yacht boasts an impressive 124 square meters of solar panels; however, given the vertical surfaces and shadows of the hull, achieving 100% efficiency is not feasible. Therefore, we have taken a conservative approach and calculated a maximum output of 14 kilowatts on a good day instead of the full 18 kilowatts available.
Regeneration Capabilities and Range
This yacht, with regeneration capabilities at 7 knots, is capable of charging 1,680 watts, enhancing its efficiency and sustainability. Yacht range under motoring varies, but if we ignore hydro regeneration and solar, running off the stored 62 kWh of batteries and operating the generator at 5.2 knots, you can achieve a range of approximately 800 nautical miles with a sea margin.
Electrical System
The primary electrical system of the yacht operates at 48 volts, powering the propulsion and all other high-load features such as winches, windlass, line driver, water maker, and more. The rest of the yacht, including the navigation lighting system and pumps, runs off a 12-volt system. Additionally, the yacht is equipped with a 5 kW Quattro inverter charger to power the electric three-burner induction hob and convection microwave, ensuring efficient operation of onboard appliances. The yacht also has 110/230V outlets and USB-C charging ports throughout, providing ample power for all your devices.
Ventilation and Bright Living Spaces
Yacht ventilation has been thoughtfully considered, with every cabin featuring overhead hatches and portlights to ensure plenty of airflow. The saloon is equipped with two forward-opening flush hatches, two side ports, and an aft sliding window, along with a sliding saloon door, all contributing to a bright and airy living space.
Enhanced Performance Features
While the Panther Series is designed to be simple, it comes with a host of extras built into the yacht, ensuring a luxurious and convenient experience. One standout extra is the full carbon mast with a carbon boom with lazy jacks and sail cover, which enhances performance while keeping the overall weight down. The yacht also comes equipped with a fully battened mainsail, headsail, and flying sail, providing exceptional sailing capabilities. Additionally, it features a McConaghy RIB with a 20hp Yamaha 4-stroke outboard for reliable propulsion when needed.
Steering and Navigation Systems
The steering system is designed for performance, utilizing a lightweight race yacht chain and rope setup, complemented by a chain-driven auto-pilot for precise handling and control. The navigation system includes a comprehensive B&G package featuring two 12-inch touchscreen displays for routing, wind, speed, heading, and more, ensuring seamless and intuitive operation.
Deck Gear and Maneuverability
We’ve carefully considered the deck gear layout to reduce the amount of deck gear for weight savings and ease of maintenance. This yacht is primarily designed for short-handed sailing, so we opted for a single power winch located under the deck, forward of the mast. This keeps everything clean and efficient for hoisting sails and reefing. Additionally, two winches are positioned aft for sail handling, along with a traveler line driver. The yacht also features easy-to-operate daggerboards, with ropes led back to the two aft winches and locked off on clutches.
Innovation Anchoring and Sailing Design
In our design, we use a carbon fiber longeron with no cross beam for further weight saving, and the anchoring system is integrated with an anchoring bridal for streamlined functionality. Thanks to the self-tacking headsail and line drive, the yacht makes tacking upwind incredibly easy, allowing you to perform maneuvers without even leaving the helm chair. For long-range cruising, the autopilot can maintain a head-to-wind position for hoisting sails, and the yacht can sail under autopilot, making it suitable for single-handed sailing or easy handling with a couple. Once friends are onboard, this yacht has the power to be let loose and run.
Modern Interiors and Luxury Features
The interior features an ultra-modern design, complete with soft lighting under lightweight floating furniture and a sophisticated blend of satin black interior finishes with carbon highlights. This is elegantly combined with grey soles and lightweight liners, creating an inviting and stylish atmosphere that will appeal to both young and older clients. Adding to its sophisticated design, the Eco Panther Series also features ultra-modern EVA half-deck and foredeck finishes, which help maintain a lightweight structure while providing a refined and contemporary appearance. The foredeck is equipped with plush sundeck cushions, creating the perfect space for bathing, entertaining, and relaxing with a nice glass of champagne and nibbles.
Outdoor Social Spaces
The large aft cockpit offers a spacious area for socializing, featuring a comfortable lounge to port and a dining space to starboard, all sheltered from the elements by a generous overhang from the cabin top. This design ensures guests can enjoy outdoor living in comfort, whether dining or lounging.
