    2000 Beneteau Oceanis 461 “Eda” — Owner’s Version, World-Cruised, Extensively Renovated & Exceptionally Equipped

    Introduction and Key Features

Her original owners held the boat for 23 years and used her very lightly, storing her on the hard each winter. The current owner purchased Eda in 2023, undertook a comprehensive mechanical and systems renovation, and then sailed her around the world over the past two years, refining and upgrading the boat specifically for offshore reliability, redundancy, and liveaboard comfort.

Eda features roller furling main and jib, a robust cruising sail inventory, modern propulsion, upgraded rigging, serious ground tackle, renewable energy, climate control, and communications systems designed for global cruising.

    Broker Comments

It is rare to find a cruising boat that combines long-term original ownership, a recent full systems refit, and proven global voyaging under the current owner. Eda is not a dock queen refit — she is a boat that has been rebuilt, tested, and refined at sea.

The owner’s investment focused on core systems that matter offshore: engine and drivetrain, rigging, sails, anchoring, electrical generation, communications, safety systems, and redundancy. Many original components were retained as spares, a level of preparation that experienced sailors will immediately recognize.

This Oceanis 461 stands apart from typical market offerings and is genuinely ready to depart again.

    Accommodations

Eda is configured in the Owner’s Version, offering excellent privacy, storage, and livability.

    • Forward owner’s stateroom with large berth and extensive storage
    • Aft private cabin with generous lockers
    • Two heads with showers
    • Main salon with U-shaped seating and dining table
    • Navigation station at chart table
    • Galley aft with excellent working space
    • Full set of cockpit cushions
    • Bright, well-ventilated interior suitable for long-term cruising

    Mechanical

Significant mechanical upgrades completed in 2023–2024 include:

    • New (2023) Nanni 21 HP diesel engine with transmission. These engines are built on proven Kubota industrial blocks, run smoother and quieter, and emphasize simple, mechanical systems that cruisers can service almost anywhere in the world.
    • The owner selected the Nanni 21 to maximize fuel efficiency while still pushing the boat at 7 knots under power.
    • Approx. 3,977 hours on the Nanni engine (world cruising use)
    • New (2023) propeller shaft and propeller
    • New (2023) engine belts, hoses, filters, and service components
    • Bypassable engine radiator for cabin heating
    • Original Westerbeke 63 HP diesel (approx. 1,300 hrs), transmission, prop shaft, and folding propeller removed and placed in storage — sold separately, if desired

This propulsion refit represents a major investment and dramatically improves reliability and serviceability.

    Electrical

Eda has been thoughtfully upgraded for offshore and liveaboard use:

    • Two Lifeline GPL-4D AGM house batteries (210Ah each)
    • Xantrex Freedom XC 2000W inverter/charger with remote panel
    • 280W Kyocera solar array
    • Blue Sky Solar Boost charger with remote display (2024)
    • Upgraded electrical distribution and protection
    • New (2024) backup 12-volt bilge pump
    • Shore power system with AC water heater
    • Engine heat exchange water heating

    Electronics

Navigation, communications, and entertainment systems include:

    • Raymarine chartplotter at helm
    • Raymarine Pathfinder RL70 radar, plus spare radar dome
    • Raymarine ST6000+ autopilot with spare drive motor
    • Raymarine ST60 wind, depth, and speed instruments
    • Raytheon remote multi-gauge at chart table
    • Standard Horizon VHF with GPS, AIS, and helm microphone
    • Standard Horizon handheld VHF with charging station at chart table
    • Starlink High Performance satellite internet
    • Bluetooth JVC four-speaker stereo system

    Sails & Rigging

Extensive rigging and sail upgrades completed for offshore reliability:

    • New (2023) standing and running rigging (old set retained as spares)
    • Roller furling main and jib
    • Roller furling Neil Pryde mainsail
    • New (2023) spare roller furling Neil Pryde mainsail
    • New (2023) 110% roller furling Neil Pryde Yankee jib
    • 135% roller furling Evolution genoa
    • Asymmetrical spinnaker
    • Lewmar 40ST EVO electric winch
    • Lifelines terminate with pelican hooks at bow and stern, allowing opening and lowering when needed at a variety of docks.

    Hull and Deck

Eda’s deck has been substantially upgraded for safety and functionality:

    • New (2024) Maxwell 1.2 kW electric windlass
    • New (2023) 73 lb Rocna anchor
    • 200’ of 3/8” galvanized anchor chain
    • 300’ of 5/8” nylon anchor rode
    • New (2023) navigation, anchor, deck, and masthead sealed LED lighting
    • New (2023) full cockpit canvas enclosure
    • Full cockpit cushions
    • Water valve manifold with bypass for shore-water tank filling

    Construction

Eda is built on Beneteau’s proven Oceanis 461 platform with solid fiberglass hull construction and cored deck and superstructure. Her layout, tankage, and structural design have made this model a favorite among bluewater cruisers worldwide. Extensive post-purchase upgrades further enhance her longevity and reliability.
