Description

Cara of Portsmouth

Designed by Philippe Briand, the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 449 has been carefully studied down to the smallest detail to offer superior performance and ease of handling. Cara of Portsmouth is the Deep Draft version, built to UK specification, giving her the extra stability and windward performance of the deeper L shaped keel over the standard shoal draft boats. Stable and responsive at the helm, her length manoeuvres with great precision in all conditions.

Cara of Portsmouth is set up as a genuine long range cruiser rather than a coastal weekend boat. She carries a Spectra water maker alongside her standard and upgraded water tankage, giving her the range to cross oceans and stay self sufficient at anchor for extended periods. Power comes from a stainless steel stern gantry carrying two 330 watt solar panels feeding a Victron monitored 440Ah house bank, and she is fully equipped with a B&G navigation suite including radar, AIS, autopilot, and chartplotter at the helm.

    Interior Layout

Cara is finished in the popular three cabin, two head layout, with the owner's cabin forward featuring an

island berth, hanging lockers, and an overhead hatch for light and ventilation. Owner's forward cabin includes its own private head and shower, giving a fully separate area from the guest accommodations.

The saloon carries a U-shaped dinette around a folding leaf table that converts to a berth, opposite a long straight settee, all

under indirect lighting with white Mediterranean leatherette upholstery, and blackout blinds and insect

screens fitted to every hatch. Aft to port is the L-shaped galley, fitted with twin stainless sinks, mixer taps,

and a toughened safety glass splash guard, with two aft double cabins sharing the second head. Both

heads have holding tanks, and the aft head has a shower divider screen. Diesel fired heating runs to every
