Description
Comments from the designer, Bob Perry: From the outset, the Saga 43 was designed to be a legitimate fast cruiser that would combine elements from racing trends with a long waterline that increases speed and interior volume, says Perry. Most cruisers are designed inside out, but not here. We wanted to appeal to an owner who knows performance. Allan and I started with a big cockpit that would be comfortable and ease the task of managing the boat. We wanted a better balance between spaces on deck and below.

WINDRESS EQUIPMENT AND SYSTEMS
“Windress” is an extremely well equipped example of Bob Perry’s designed for shorthanded long distance cruising at speed! Perry missed no detail in the design of Windress to meet the, then current, IRC Category 1 racing safety standards implemented after the tragic 1979 Fastnet Race. The little things will impress you such as ALL tanks have level gauges, (no more guessing how full the holding tank is!), all the tanks have significant capacity, all the hatches and companionway have bug screens, new cockpit cushions, extended custom traveler for the Jib for better trim, and ALL the quality systems you would expect on the Yacht of this quality.

Along the keel is additional heavy duty keel solid laminate layup for additional keel and mast support strength. The aluminum slotted toe rail has a PVC rub rail, New in 2009 for full length hullside protection. The keel is externally hung lead with a double row of 10 1" keel bolts. All bulkheads and furniture components are fully bonded to the hull and deck. The hull to deck joint is thru-bolted on 4" centers and bonded with polyurethane adhesive sealant. There is a massive sub floor framing structure utilizing bi-directional E-Glass reinforcements for hull stiffness and added strength. The exterior is tropics friendly, with no exterior teak to maintain. NO exterior bright work to maintain! Fiberglass and stainless only.
