Description
Arriving in Annapolis, Maryland in early June
The Beneteau Oceanis 43 is a well-balanced cruising sailboat with strong sailing performance and the comfort and flexibility cruisers look for. With a moderate displacement and a generous sail area, the boat feels quick and responsive under sail, especially in light to moderate winds. Its stability comes from a solid ballast-to-displacement ratio, which helps the boat stay steady and composed in heavier conditions. The sail area to displacement ratio falls in the sweet spot for performance cruising, offering enough power for enjoyable sailing without requiring constant effort. The shoal draft keel is a major advantage for those cruising in areas like the Chesapeake Bay, the Bahamas, or other shallow-water regions, allowing you to anchor closer to shore and access places deeper keel boats cannot go. While the numbers speak to its capability, it is the overall feel that sets this boat apart. It sails smoothly, handles predictably, and provides the kind of experience that makes every passage feel rewarding. Whether day sailing or living aboard, the Oceanis 43 is designed to make time on the water as enjoyable as it is reliable.
Features include:
- Two cabin, two head layout with private owner’s suite forward
- Shoal draft keel for access to shallow cruising grounds
- In-mast furling mainsail for easy handling
- Air conditioning for climate comfort below deck
- Watermaker onboard (never used)
- 450 watts of solar power for off-grid energy independence
- Radar for safer navigation in low visibility
- AIS system for collision avoidance and vessel tracking
This setup makes the Oceanis 43 a capable, comfortable, and self-sufficient cruiser, ready for weekend escapes or extended bluewater adventures.

Accommodations
The immediate impression upon entering the Beneteau 43 is of light and space, with the wide, open salon, light wood, and 'eyebrow' windows down the side of the coachroof, as well as hatches and windows in the coachroof. The cabin space is well-ventilated with 6 screened hatches, 7 opening portals, 5 fans, and 2 air conditioning units.
The L-shaped galley is to port of the companionway, with lots of work space and storage as well as a stove, microwave, fridge, and freezer. The previous owner has installed new cabinet fronts and a support column
Forward of the galley is the aft-facing chart table, which has electronics and electric panels close at hand. A straight salon settee doubles as a seat.
On the starboard side of the boat, entry to the aft cabin, which is fitted with storage and lockers, is next to the companionway steps. The aft head (manual), just forward of the cabin, has a separate shower accessible from the aft cabin or salon. Forward of the head compartment is the large rectangular dinette in the salon, which can be lowered to convert into a queen berth using a cushion insert.
