Description
Baltic 39 – Well-Maintained Classic with Major Upgrades
Founded in Finland in the early 1970s, Baltic Yachts set out with a clear mission: to build better boats using modern techniques. Among their early and enduring successes was the Baltic 39, designed by the respected C&C Design team. This medium-displacement, all-around performer is a joy to sail, offering both speed and stability. Her deep 6’8” fin keel, modest freeboard, and fine bow entry provide a stiff, confidence-inspiring experience when under sail.
Below deck, this is a true sailor’s boat—warm, inviting, and crafted in beautifully fitted teak. Large deck hatches, deck prisms, and cabin windows flood the interior with natural light. The well-appointed layout features a fully equipped galley, a proper navigation station, and accommodations for up to eight in five berths, including two staterooms and one head.
Lovingly cared for by her long-time owner, this Baltic 39 has been consistently enjoyed and thoughtfully upgraded. Sails handle with ease, steering is light and responsive, and her many improvements are immediately apparent. A new Beta Marine diesel delivers smooth, quiet, and efficient power. One of the most significant upgrades—professional removal of the original teak decks and replacement with as-new nonskid—has dramatically reduced future maintenance needs.
Notable Features & Upgrades
- New Beta Marine 45T diesel engine (2023)
- Professionally Refinished Decks
- New B&G plotter and radar
- New electric windlass
If you’re looking for a well-built classic sailboat that has been properly maintained and significantly renewed, this Baltic 39 represents an exceptional opportunity. Potential moorage may be available in Victoria, BC, subject to marina approval.
Accommodations
Below deck, the Baltic 39 offers a bright, open layout centered around a port-side midship galley, starboard navigation station, and opposing salon settees forward. A centerline folding dining table allows for flexible use of the space, with the keel-stepped mast passing cleanly through the table to maximize comfort and accessibility in the main salon. Rich teak millwork and bulkheads are finished to a high standard, offset by an off-white vinyl headliner. The original pilot berths have been thoughtfully converted into additional cabinetry and shelving, providing generous storage. Teak-and-holly soles run throughout, and the port settee converts to a twin/double berth.
Aft to starboard is the private aft cabin, featuring a single berth to starboard and a twin/double berth to port. Ventilation is excellent, with two opening ports, an overhead hatch, and a deck ventilator.
The port-side galley is well-equipped for extended cruising, featuring a Force 10 two-burner propane stove/oven, double stainless steel sinks, a refrigerated icebox (Nova Kool), and ample storage in cupboards and drawers. Both foot-pump and pressurized freshwater systems are available at the sink.
Opposite the galley, the starboard navigation station features a dedicated sit-down chart table with storage, fitted with communications gear, monitoring equipment, and the vessel’s electrical distribution panels—an ideal workspace while underway.
Forward to port, the enclosed head includes a manual Baby Blake marine toilet, sink, vanity, and both pressurized and foot-pump freshwater. An opening hatch ensures ventilation.
In the forepeak, a traditional V-berth is fitted with a filler cushion, overhead hatch, bookshelves, and a generously sized hanging locker, making for a comfortable and private forward cabin.
