1979 Custom 38'
1979 Custom 38'
Description
In the1970's in the small waterman's town of Oxford, Md. there were some very talented craftsmen in the marine industry who built and maintained pleasure boats and work boats with special features ideal for the shallow Chesapeake Bay creeks and summer storms. Wind Song was not going to be a "Production Boat". She was designed by famed naval architects Kaufmann and Ladd. This is a "one off" yacht intended to be a comfortable sailing cruising boat very capable of cruising to the Bahamas, Maine, and virtually anywhere a true sailor wants to go with a shallow draft full keel and centerboard. The current knowledgeable owners have meticulously maintained the boat in pristine condition, so it's in "Sail-Away Condition". This is the boat dreams are made of. Description
One of the most beautiful yachts on the Bay. Wind Song is admired wherever she goes. A Bugeye Ketch rigged custom yacht with sharply raked, tapered masts and Marconi rigged self tacking sails, she features a large and open cockpit. Set up for comfortable, easy and safe handling as a "Coastal Cruiser" she has ventured between the Chesapeake Bay, the Bahamas and Florida Keys. Her shallow draft with the centerboard up gets her into anchorages not accessible to most boats her size. In deeper waters the centerboard drops and adds a more balanced helm and easier steering. She is in top condition and looking for her next owner. The Current owners have sailed her for 17 years and completed many extensive upgrades. She is fast, elegant, and comfortable for day sailing, weekending, or extended cruising.
