Description
Alabare is Hull #3 of this fantastic Bob Perry design. The Tashiba 36 evolved from his earlier work - such as the Baba 40 - into what Perry claims is his best full-keel, double-ender design. He notes that he made the turn to the bilges "more firm for increased stability," which helped the boat sail "incredibly well". He adds that it was fast and close-winded enough to compete with many fin-keel designs. As a testament to her seaworthiness, the Tashiba 36 is one of only 20 designs approved for the Golden Globe Race. The Ta Shing craftsmanship is second to none and the interior is a remarkable example of fine joinery. Sounds cliche, but they do not make boats like this anymore!
Alabare was originally owned by one of the organizers of the Annapolis Sailboat Show and was the show boat in 1986. She features a Yanmar diesel and a luxurious two-stateroom interior with the optional private aft cabin. She won't last.
