Description

Beneteau Oceanis 361 – Two Cabin Cruiser - Catching Air II

A striking balance of comfort, agility, and value, the Beneteau 361 (built by Beneteau USA in Marion, SC) delivers on all fronts. Designed by Berret Racoupeau, it offers generous volume in an easily managed 36-foot hull.

Key Highlights

•  Beam: A roomy 12′6″ (3.8 m) beam offers sailing stability and spacious interior living

•  Shoal Draft: At just 5′ 0″ (1.52 m), the shallow draft lets you explore shallow harbors and anchorages with ease.

•  Displacement & Ballast: Solidly built at roughly 13,300–13,850 lb with a 4,156 lb ballast bulb keel, offering stiffness and comfortable motion at sea.

Layout & Comfort

•  Two cabin layout: Features a sprawling full-beam aft owner’s stateroom, paired with a cozy forward V berth—perfect for couples who crave privacy and space. The salon includes a U-shaped settee and a convertible dining table for added flexibility

•  Effortless sailing: “Catching Air II” is easy to handle short-handed thanks to proven engineering, balanced sail plan, and manageable systems.

Catching Air II was sailed seasonally by a family in the Northeast for seven years before the current owner sailed to Charleston, SC. She was stored and maintained at Martha's Vineyard Shipyard.

    Interior

The two-cabin layout of the Beneteau 361 combines thoughtful design with cruising comfort. The interior features high-quality woodwork and generous (6'4”) headroom. The space features two spacious cabins, a large head, a U-shaped galley, versatile dining and sleeping areas, and ample ventilation.

The forward cabin has a large V-berth (approximately 6′ 7″ x 5′ 4″), surrounded by hull-shelf storage, a starboard hanging locker, and twin reading lights. Ventilation is supplied through two opening ports and a Lewmar hatch above.

The salon features a U-shaped settee to starboard, accompanied by a dining table. The dining table can be lowered to transform the area into an extra berth. On the port side, there's a straight settee. Storage options include under-seat compartments, overhead lockers, and a bar locker situated behind the starboard settee. Large coach roof windows and a deck hatch supply natural light and ventilation.

The C-shaped galley is located on the port side, forward of the companionway. It offers ample counter space, a stainless-steel double sink, a two-burner propane stove, a dedicated microwave shelf, and plenty of refrigerated storage (front-loading fridge and icebox). Louvered door lockers and a cutting board cover for the sink complete the setup. Ventilation is provided via a hatch and a porthole above the stove.
