Description

1981 MARINE TRADER 34 DOUBLE CABIN

“MORNINGSTAR”

Classic Trawler • Bow Thruster • Generator • Dual Helms • Extensive Maintenance History

MORNINGSTAR is a well-kept 1981 Marine Trader 34 classic diesel trawler for sale in Green Cove Springs,

Florida. She offers the traditional aft-cabin cruising layout buyers look for in a Marine Trader, with upper and

lower helm stations, two heads, generous storage, warm woodwork and practical equipment for coastal

cruising, liveaboard use or Great Loop-style travel.

A major improvement is the Aquatronics non-skid installed throughout the vessel approximately two years

ago. The teak swim platform adds classic character at the stern, while the exterior rails received exceptional

refinishing work reportedly completed by a retired U.S. Coast Guard craftsman. Two Bimini tops and updated

flybridge side curtains provide useful shade and weather protection.

The upper station is equipped with bow-thruster controls, depth instrumentation, marine VHF radio and

bottom-finder capability that can be used at the upper or lower station. Teak chairs are intended to convey,

and the flybridge has substantial storage plus a custom propane-storage enclosure purchased to match the

boat.

When the current owner purchased MORNINGSTAR a couple of years ago, corrosion was found on the

drive/propeller shaft. The vessel now has a brand-new replacement shaft with a dripless shaft seal. A spare

propeller is also included.

The main diesel shows approximately 5,200 indicated hours. A generator is installed, the engine room

presents as clean, and the owner reports that the generator engine cranks readily. Exact engine and

generator make/model specifications should be confirmed from the vessel data plates and maintenance

records before final publication.

Electrical and comfort equipment includes a 3,000-watt inverter, house battery bank beneath the salon couch,

battery monitor, shore-power/battery source controls and marine air conditioning serving the forward and aft

accommodations.

The galley includes a refrigerator, three-burner propane stove, Panasonic microwave and pull-out storage.

The salon table folds out for a larger dining surface and can be lowered. Storage is abundant throughout the

salon, cabins, flybridge, closets and service-access areas.

MORNINGSTAR has two heads. The forward head is presently used primarily for storage, but the owner

reports that it is functional. One toilet was reported as having been replaced. The forward cabin features

attractive woodwork and access to the anchor-line area, while the aft cabin offers a lower berth arrangement,

workstation area, private head, storage and rear air conditioning.

Ground tackle includes an electric windlass with foot controls and two anchors. The aft arrangement can be

used to lift or tow a dinghy, and newer ropes/lines were reported. Pretty much everything shown aboard is

intended to convey, subject to final written exclusions in the purchase agreement.

One of MORNINGSTAR strongest selling points is her documentation. The vessel carries an extensive

maintenance book reaching far back into her history, together with maintenance records from the current

owner. On a classic 1981 Marine Trader, that record trail is especially useful for buyers and surveyors

evaluating past service and upgrades.

MORNINGSTAR is not represented as a cosmetically perfect older trawler. Exterior painted areas need

attention, and there is a soft section of interior floor/sole that will require repair. The owner reports that the

area is not actively leaking. Buyers should independently inspect and survey the vessel and the affected area.

For a buyer searching for a Marine Trader 34 for sale in Florida, an affordable diesel trawler, Great Loop

candidate, liveaboard trawler or classic aft-cabin cruiser with a bow thruster and generator, MORNINGSTAR

deserves consideration. Her combination of practical upgrades, new shaft and dripless seal, inverter, updated

    OVERVIEW

MORNINGSTAR is a well-equipped 1981 Marine Trader 34 Double Cabin offering the traditional two-stateroom,

two-head trawler layout, warm classic woodwork, upper and lower helm stations and an impressive cruising

    equipment package.

Her current owner has continued to maintain and improve the vessel. One of MORNINGSTAR’s strongest assets is

the extensive maintenance documentation that accompanies her, including a maintenance book reaching far back

into the vessel’s history and records of work performed during the current ownership.

Major equipment and improvements observed or reported include a bow thruster, generator, 3,000-watt inverter,

marine air conditioning, Raymarine equipment, autopilot capability, windlass with two anchors, Tonic non-skid

installed approximately two years ago, updated flybridge side curtains, spare propeller, and a replacement propeller

shaft with an updated/different shaft seal system.

MORNINGSTAR is not represented as a cosmetically perfect 1981 vessel. Exterior painted surfaces would benefit

from refinishing, and a section of interior cabin sole is soft and will require attention. Those items are disclosed up

front. For a buyer seeking an affordable traditional diesel trawler for coastal cruising, extended stays aboard or

Great Loop-style cruising, MORNINGSTAR offers considerable equipment and classic Marine Trader character

maintenance book described as going back to the beginning of the vessel history, along with maintenance

evaluating past service, repairs and upgrades.

The owner indicates that pretty much everything shown aboard the vessel is intended to convey with the sale,

including teak chairs, spare propeller, lines and substantial onboard cruising gear.

    BROKERS OBSERVATIONS

MORNINGSTAR is more than a generic older Marine Trader because of the amount of owner work and useful

    cruising equipment already aboard.

The Aquatronics non-skid, exceptional rail work, updated flybridge curtains, custom propane storage, bow

thruster, generator, 3,000-watt inverter, replacement shaft with dripless seal, dinghy handling equipment and

extensive records are the details that should lead the marketing.

She still has age-related projects, and those are disclosed honestly. For the buyer who values systems,

documentation, classic woodwork and a practical cruising layout, MORNINGSTAR offers a substantial
