Engine & Mechanical
This boat is powered by the easily maintained and reliable F25 Yamaha outboard. It has the long shaft that allows the propeller to go deep enough in the water to propel the boat an easy cruising speed of 7 1/2 knots and gives it plenty of power against strong currents. And because it’s on the transom of the boat, it is quiet and gives good gas efficiency. With a capacity of 42 gallons of gas storage, this catamaran has a long range between fuel stops.
2016 F25 Yamaha Well-Maintained Outboard Motor
New 2023 Impeller for F25 Yamaha
New Solenoid Propane Controls
The two Yamaha outboard motors have been regularly maintained with all fluid changes and tune-ups. They should both last many more years.
The steering lines that connect the rudders to the F25 outboard have been recently replaced and the bucket that holds the outboard is easily manually raised and lowered.
Sails & Rigging
The main sail and the 156 degree Genoa are new and custom made for this Gemini. They are the long lasting 100% Dacron sails that ma imipramine the sailing performance of this boat. When adjusted properly to the wind, these sails give this boat an exhilarating ride!!
New 2024 Top Quality Main Sail and 75% Roller-Furling Genoa
In 2019, all the lines of the sails and Genoa were replaced with new quality lines.
The sails have built-in reefing that is easy to do if the wind gets too strong.
Additional Information
In 2023, all the old copper propane tubing was replaced throughout the boat with air-tight, new rubber tubing and the propane stove was checked for safety. In 2022, the entire boat’s wiring and fuses were redone and two new 12v outlets.
In 2022, the exterior of the boat’s surface was sanded and all chips and fiberglass damage were filled with polyester resin and the entire exterior was primed with four coats of quality, long-lasting two-part epoxy, high-fill primer. This primer filled in all the small spider cracks in the gelcoat. Then the entire exterior was painted with three coats of high-quality white topcoats.
In 2021, the old, stained carpet was torn out of the interior of the Gemini; the walls and ceiling’s surfaces were wire brushed and smoothed. Then the entire interior was primed and painted in a washable quality paint. To cover the exposed corners and ceilings, new custom PVC molding was installed in all spaces.
In 2021, all nine windows were replaced with UV-coated, polycarbonate 1/4” windows. They were secured with the long-lasting Dow 795 sealant.
In 2020, the two original rudder cages and supports were replaced with new stainless steel rudder cages. Like the centerboards, they pop up if the rudders are hit by an obstacle.
In 2020, both of the original mahogany centerboards were removed and reinforced with polyurethane resin and new lines and connections were installed, making the raising and lowering of these centerboards easier and functioning properly.
The boat is kept on a custom-made boat lift that keeps it out of the water surges and avoids barnacles sticking to its hulls.
This boat is the ideal sailboat for the waters in SW Florida as it only drafts 18” when the centerboards and the rudders are up.
The boat weighs only about 8,000 lbs.
With 400 watts of solar power and the very efficient refrigerator, you’ll have plenty of electric power to give you days and weeks of comfortable living on the boat. And, with the on-demand water heater, you’ll have fresh, warm showers whenever you want.
Plus, the much sought-after composting toilet has no odor and is easily maintained. It works without using the boat’s precious water.
As for sailing, with the centerboards down even halfway, this Gemini sails very well. Find the wind, adjust the sails, lock in the autopilot, and enjoy a smooth, no-heeling ride!
And, for cruising without the sails, this boat is very light, and it cruises easily at 7 1/2 knots.
Its three gas tanks hold 42 gallons of fuel, which will give you a long range without having to refuel often.
Unlike most catamarans, insuring the later model Gemini’s, the water to the top of the mast is only 43 1/2 feet. This allows you to go under the common 45’ bridges around SW Florida.
Here is an affordable catamaran with all the features and luxuries of the bigger and much more expensive cats.
And its smaller size is much easier and less expensive to maintain.
And best of all, everything has been recently done to it!
You can jump on it and sail it to the Bahamas as it is! She’s ready to go!!
