Description
“The Island Packet 320 combines the extensive building, sailing, and design experience that have made Island Packet Yachts America's Cruising Yacht Leader. Using owner feedback from millions of miles of cruising experience, noted naval architect Bob Johnson designed the IP320 to maximize offshore capability and liveaboard comfort. Cruising World magazine confirmed the success of this design by awarding the IP320 its Best Midsize Cruiser honors in the 1998 Boat of the Year contest.”- Island Packet, 1998
“Southern Star” is a beautifully maintained sailing yacht, and part of the long legacy of quality and comfort that Island Packets are known for.
Her exterior is shiny, with varnish recently applied, a new in 2022 Lofrans Kobra Windlass and Rohcna Anchor at the bowsprit. She has upgraded navigation (Garmin Chart Plotter, 2022), and an incredible aluminum arch (Tower-in-a-Box, 2021) That holds 600 watts of Solar and serves as davits for 9 ft Highfield dinghy. Her Cockpit is full of living space, with a foldout table and plenty of seating, as well as easy access to sailing lines for both comfort and safety.
Moving down below, you will find a gorgeous and well-maintained interior. The teak and holly woodwork and cabin sole throughout is shiny, with minimal wear and tear; in fact, the only interior improvement to consider would be replacing the salon settee fabric.
To starboard of the companionway there is an accommodating u-shaped galley with a two-burner propane stove, double stainless-steel sink, and fridge/freezer combo. To port of the companionway there is a Nav station and main breaker panel with a foldout chart table. This also acts as a cleverly designed divider to give privacy to the aft berth, which has a pullman bed and plenty of space to relax after a long day out on the water.
Moving forward to the Salon area there are two full-sized settees for you to sit back and relax as well as to entertain. There is a large table that expands for company, with shelving above to accommodate barware and wine/liquor, etc. The table can also fold up completely against the shelving for more space if needed.
The spacious and clean head/shower combo is on the port side located forward of the salon. Moving all the way forward there is the master stateroom with a large pullman style berth to port and plenty of cabinetry/closet space for the liveaboard cruiser to live in comfort and style.
