Description

Built with expert craftsmanship and designed for adventure, Ness is a steel-hulled Tahitiana Ketch, launched in 2000 by shipwright Zeke McFadin. With a sturdy 3/16” steel hull, reinforced keel, and custom wooden cabin house, she is a robust and proven bluewater cruiser. Her Yanmar 3YM30 diesel engine has just 600 hours, professionally installed, ensuring reliability.

The rig is a unique design, maximizing sail area with a mainsail, mizzen, jib, staysail, and topsail from Force 10 Sails. Her Monitor windvane offers hands-free steering, and her Raymarine electronics package, including chart plotter, radar, and VHF, provides navigation confidence. Recently replaced batteries ensure dependable onboard power.

Built with offshore durability in mind, Ness underwent a full sandblasting to near-white steel, followed by three coats of high-build epoxy. Her Ameron 235-coated ballast—a mix of lead, rebar, and concrete—ensures stability. A large shaft log with cutlass bearing and a traditional stuffing box make for a solid, low-maintenance drivetrain.

The warm, functional interior features a Tasco propane stove, Yanmar diesel heater, and 6’3” headroom for comfort. A solid steel rudder, reinforced keel, and ample ground tackle complete the package for serious voyaging.

Originally sailed to Mexico and Hawaii, Ness has proven haerself offshore. Currently located in Vandemere, NC, she is ready for her next owner to continue the adventure. With her combination of traditional craftsmanship, thoughtful modifications, and rugged reliability, Ness is an exceptional value for those seeking a capable, steel-hulled cruising ketch.

Available now for viewing—don’t miss the opportunity to own a truly unique bluewater vessel!
