Description

Just Right is a venerable BHM32 hull and deck very nicely finished off to very high standards by Cranberry Island Boat Yard in 1994.

Her present owner is a marine professional well known throughout the industry and particularly well known to us here at Brooklin Boat Yard having collaborated with us on several new construction and refit projects. Under his ownership Just Right has been diligently and pro-actively maintained to ensure trouble free operation much to the benefit of her next owners and stewards.

Offered at a very reasonable price Just Right will serve her new owners well operating equally well as a picnic / day boat, a summer cottage / coastal cruiser for a couple or small family or (as her current owner has twice done) an economical and comfortable boat on which to cruise the ICW or perhaps even further as she’d be a terrific boat to do the Great Loop.

Just Right has once again made the trip down to Florida (3rd time) and her owner reports it was a fun cruise with good weather and the boat running great. Just Right is currently just south of Jacksonville where she will haul out for a short time while her owner attends to things back North. The future plan for Just Right is to launch again in mid-early December and move further South to the Stuart (FL) area.

Interior Accommodations and Features

Entry in to the interior paces aboard Just Right is by way of opening door and sliding screen door aft from cockpit or by sliding door to starboard outboard of the helm station.

Description of Just Right’s interior arrangement is from aft to forward.

Enter interior space from cockpit into the main saloon, galley and pilot house areas.

Galley is “up” and arranged in-line along the port side of the main saloon and (to starboard) a 4-person dinette that can convert to a double berth.

Galley Equipment includes the following:  Nova Kool R4500 under counter refrigerator freezer.  Polished stainless steel single-basin galley sink. Hot and cold pressure fresh water supplied by stainless steel faucet / mixer. Manually supplied cold fresh water with bronze hand pump. Force 10, 3-burner stove with oven. 2023 composite propane storage tank (11 lb.) stored in cockpit locker. Forrest Green counter tops fore and aft of stove top. Drawer and locker storage under counter for cutlery, utensils, pots and pans. Teak plate, bowl and mug rack with paper towel roller mounted on aft bulkhead

Forward of the galley / dining area is the pilotage area of Just Right with helm station to starboard, navigator / passenger seat to port and companionway to below decks area slightly to the port of centerline.

Below decks area has storage to port in lockers, drawers and under-counter bins with the head area to opposite to starboard and forward of the head area sleeping accommodations for two (2) in a full size berth with additional storage in drawers and under berth bins

Furthest forward is access to the chain locker.

Over all the interior spaces are very open and bright with white bulkheads, furniture fronts and overheads accented by varnished Locust trim and Forrest green counter tops.

Interior spaces are extremely well ventilated with opening doors and sliding windows in the pilot house along opening ports and overhead hatch allowing air into the below decks areas

All these windows, ports and hatches allow for terrific natural light during the day and at night the interior spaces of Just Right are well lit with overhead dome lights and thoughtfully placed reading lights.

Hull and Deck Construction

Construction of the BHM 32 can justifiably be described as rugged. The lamination schedule in the hull consists of alternating layers of 24-oz. woven roving and chopped strand - 9 plies (5/8" thick) at the sheer and in the topsides, 20-24 plies (1 1/4" thick) at the keel.

The hull is further strengthened and stiffened by three transverse bulkheads - one in the forepeak, another forward of the engine compartment and a third aft of the engine, forming the fish hold/wet well - and two longitudinal stringers, one each port and starboard. All of these structural members are made up of two pieces of 1/2" thick fir plywood, laminated together and then glassed into the hull itself.

Additionally, two hollow-section longitudinal stiffeners consisting of fiberglass laid up over a half-round form have been glassed into the interior surface of the boat's bottom outboard of the keel, about halfway between the keel and the turn in the bilges. These pieces run from the bulkhead forward of the engine compartment aft to the transom.

The cockpit deck, the side decks and the forward deck are of sandwich construction (for stiffness with minimal weight) and are laid up in molds using a 1/2" thick core of end-grain balsa sheathed with fiberglass on both sides. The cockpit, or work deck of marine plywood with FRP over lay and painted finish is further supported and stiffened by longitudinal stringers and vertical stanchions.
