Description

Veuve is a fresh water, Beneteau First 30. Designed by Juan K, she is a wonderful combination of comfort and performance. Tiller steering, twin rudders and a hull design were directly inspired by Volvo Ocean Racers. This boat is remarkably fast and highly maneuverable. Although she looks like a thoroughbred race boat, the interior has all the luxurious features of the Beneteau brand. There are two private staterooms, an enclosed head with shower, over six feet of headroom in the salon, a full galley and nav station, and plenty of storage space. If you are a sailor who likes to go fast and enjoy luxurious accommodations, this vessel is for you.

Accommodations

Beneteau sailboats are known for their stylish interiors and the First 30 is no exception. A beamy hull design and ample freeboard provide the headroom and interior space of a much larger boat. She has two private staterooms, an enclosed head, a spacious salon, folding table leaves, and tons of storage space. Noteworthy is the attention to small details such as integral shades for every port-light and overhead hatch. The engine is easily accessed from under the companionway stairs and from the aft cabin, including side access from the head. The head is roomy and has enough space for a stand-up shower. The forward V-berth can be closed off with two wide doors. The aft cabin has a double berth and plenty of headroom. The galley is also well laid out and contains a two-burner propane stove, a deep refrigerator with freezer and ample storage space in cabinets.

Deck

Coming up on deck from below feels as though you have left a luxurious cruising boat and are now on a mini Volvo Ocean Racer. The First 30 is tiller-steered, something avid sailors will appreciate. The tiller, with adjustable extension, controls twin rudders using a unique self-aligning rocker bearing. No matter what degree of heel, there will always be one rudder deep in the water to provide full control and easy steering. The traveler is located across the stern at the very rear of the cockpit, completely out of the way so the crew can move freely around the cockpit. There are innovative footrests that are adjustable according to the degree of heel. Experienced sailors know that a large portion of the time onboard is spent in the cockpit, either sailing or relaxing. The cockpit on the First 30 is very spacious and well-designed for both.

Running Rigging

All the running rigging runs back to the cockpit. Sailing this boat is fun and simple, but also has all the tweaking options should you like to play with the sail trim. The asymmetrical spinnaker tack line runs off the bowsprit, making it easy to use. There is no backstay which allows the clearance for a Standard anodized aluminum mast - 2 Aft swept spreaders
