ACCOMMODATIONS
FORMOSA has owner and guest accommodation for thirteen in the following staterooms:
Owner’s suite on the upper deck forward with forward facing king bed, walk in dressing room with vanity and separate study/office with a large ensuite bathroom with tub and separate shower, his and her sinks and WC in a separate room.
There are two VIP staterooms on the main deck forward, full beam, each with ensuite bathrooms with tubs, showers and his and her sinks.
There are two king size staterooms below deck, each with sofas, and each with an ensuite bathroom with stall shower as well as a twin lower berth stateroom with Pullman berth and ensuite bathroom with shower.
An elevator services all deck levels from the lower deck to the upper bridge/sundeck.
There are accommodations for 16 crew in 9 crew cabins.
Top deck:
The panoramic top deck has a skylight in the teak deck lighting the elevator and central staircase below. There is loose furniture, all made by Paolo Lenti (2 years old) on the top deck with an amazing view forward and aft. There is also a portable cinema on this deck. A circular staircase is down on the port side to the bridge/sundeck.
Bridge/Sun Deck:
The bridge is forward with two comfortable helm chairs ahead of a central chart table with electrical panels aft, ships office aft to starboard and access aft on the port side to the pantry with dumbwaiter. The central staircase wraps around the circular elevator. The pantry is to port for ease of service to the sundeck aft and there is a single officer’s cabin with ensuite to port. The Captain’s cabin is to starboard with ensuite and good hanging lockers. A day head is on the centerline servicing the sundeck area. Outside to starboard is a three person bar, a Teppanyaki grill and storage for the waterslide. Sliding glass windows on each side act as good wind barriers. A large whirlpool for 12 people is on the centerline and a really comfortable sundeck lounging area with chaise lounges is aft. Paolo Lenti furniture, portable gym equipment and a 2025 Peloton bike complete this area. This area is also strengthened for a helicopter landing pad for an EC 130 or similar weight helicopter although it has never been used and is more for emergency touch and go so a buyer is advised to check all weight limits before use and neither seller nor brokers make any representations as to this feature.
Upper/Owner’s deck:
The hydraulic hatch for the rescue boat is forward. A delightful panoramic owner’s lounging area is forward outside the owner’s suite. The owner’s suite has deep windows for the view forward. A king size berth faces forward with walkarounds either side into the walk in dressing room and closet area which has a vanity on the port side. The owner’s bathroom is aft to port. There is a bathtub inboard, shower adjacent, WC room behind and his and her sinks outboard. The owner’s study/office is aft to starboard and there is an owners “anti chamber” room on the starboard side separated by sliding doors from the central staircase and elevator. There is a day head in the foyer lobby. A good size pantry is to port and access is on either port or starboard side to the sky lounge and cinema. There is a full cinema screen against the forward bulkhead as well as a big TV screen that folds down over the cinema screen. Couches and tables make for a comfortable lounging area and there is a games table in the aft port corner. Double sliding doors access the open aft dining deck which has a circular teak table surrounded by twelve teak dining chairs. There is built in seating aft and a circular staircase down to the main deck aft.
Main deck:
All the way forward on the main deck are two wave runners and the anchoring equipment. A bosun’s locker with extensive storage is aft with the emergency generator on the port side. The SOLAS rescue boat and crane are in the forward tender garage and there is a technical room further aft.
Forward on the main deck are two full beam VIP staterooms, each with an ensuite bathroom with bathtub, separate stall shower, his and her sinks and WC’s. Queen berths are athwartships and since this area is full beam there are lovely windows in each stateroom. There is a private salon for the VIP staterooms on the starboard side. The galley is on the main deck to port, with a large pantry further aft for serving the dining room. There is a day head adjacent to the circular staircase and elevator and access from the starboard side main deck foyer aft to the dining salon with excellent storage and access either side of a central island to the main salon. There is access from the main salon to the aft deck which has U shaped seating on the centerline with passarelle access on the port side and a staircase down on the starboard side to the garage and swimming platform.
Lower deck:
There are crew accommodations on the lower deck forward for fourteen crew in seven crew staterooms. There is a first officer cabin and captain’s cabin on the bridge deck for a total of sixteen crew. The crew mess and crew pantry/galley are to port with access down to the tank deck opposite.
On the lower deck there are three additional guest staterooms. To port forward is a twin berth stateroom with Pullman upper berth and ensuite bathroom with shower. Further aft are identical double guest suites, each with queen berths, two place sofas with coffee tables and ensuite bathrooms with stall showers.
The engine room is further aft with ECR on the centerline.
The garage is further aft and although originally designed to carry two tenders including a limousine and a RIB, along with two wave runners, the garage now carries a 5.6m (18.6’) diesel powered RIB tender set on skids for launching as well as a Seadoo RXP RS and a Yamaha standup Superjet jetski. Dive equipment, and lots of miscellaneous water toys (see list later on) are also stowed in the garage.
Two Seadoo 300 GTX wave runners are stored forward on the bow and launched with the forward mast crane.
A significant bathing platform (which is the garage door when not down) makes a great spot for massages or an excellent staging area for all the water toys carried on board Formosa.
Under deck/tank deck:
The underdeck area has the hi fog sprinkler station and technical spaces forward, significant deep freezer and refrigeration rooms, an expansive dry storage area, a workshop area with a lathe to port and the laundry to starboard.

MAIN MACHINERY
Primary access to the main machinery spaces is via the lower (tank) deck tunnel and a watertight door at the forward end of the engine room. An alternative entry is from the garage. The engine control room has good sound insulation and air conditioning. Clear windows look into the engine room. The ECR contains the main switchboard and distribution panels as well as local engine control and Electromar control screen. A PC is provided for maintenance and stores activities. The engine room is well laid out, adequately ventilated and illuminated and with equipment safely guarded.
There are two MTU 12V 4000 M53 turbo charged and aftercooled diesel engines each 1,380kW at 1,800rpm. The engines are connected to independent ZF hydraulic gearboxes and from there to propellers via a shaft fitted with shaft brake and mechanical type shaft seal. Shafts are in Rubber Design oil baths. Engines have been regularly maintained at manufacturers recommended intervals by the Chief engineer and engineering crew who have trained at MTU and so maintaining the engine warranty (currently has an extendable MTU Penske warranty up to Sept 2025). Gearbox had 4000 hours service in March 2024. Main Engine exhausts had insulation renewed in 2022. Shafts were disassembled, oil changed, all seals and bearings changed and clearances checked as a part of the 10 year survey at Derecktors Ft Pierce, FL in March 2025. Engine exhaust exits below the waterline and is fitted with an above water line exhaust back pressure reducing line, fitted with auto closing valve set at 1,000rpm.
Main Engines note:
As of April 2025 there are approx. 11,000 hours total time on both main engines, so approximately 1,000 hours per year of use, which is normal for a yacht cruising around the world. There was a boroscope of every cylinder done in March 2025 along with injector changes as a part of her class survey. The next major service, known as a QL3, (previously an MTU W5), is only due at 13,500 hours.

Main generators are two 175kW Caterpillar C9 engines with alternators, both in acoustic sound shields located in the engine room. An emergency Caterpillar C4 air cooled generator of 82kW provides backup and is forward on the main deck in its own compartment.
Complete overhaul of both generators was completed at 19,000 hours in October 2022, 6,000 hours ago. 2,000 hour services were completed and new electrical harnesses were done in March 2025 and at that time the port generator had a top-end overhaul and 6 cylinder packs changed.
